Claus Hansen
Claus Hansen (died 8 February 1706) was Governor of the Danish West Indies from 19 February 1702 until his death. Hansen started his career in the West Indies as one of the soldiers brought by Jørgen Thormøhlen on the latter's lesseeship in 1690. He was promoted to ensign in 1692 by Governor Frans de la Vigne. Jørgen Thormøhlen
Jørgen Thormøhlen ( – 25 December 1708) was a German-born Norwegian merchant, shipowner, slave trader and industrialist. Biography Thormøhlen was born in the Duchy of Holstein, at that time a hereditary possession of the King of Denmark as Duke of Holstein-Glückstadt. He was the son of Jürgen ther Möhlen, a German wine trader from Hamburg. In 1664, he settled in Bergen, where he married Giertrud Magers. She was the daughter of naturalized citizen Hendrich Magers, who was regarded as the wealthiest merchant in Bergen. Thormøhlen became the largest ship-owner in Norway, trading fish from Northern Norway and being involved in a number of other businesses. He made his fortune through overseas and domestic trade (including the Danish slave trade) and owning ships. He also developed an industrial site located at Vestre Sydnes. Ensign (; Late Middle English, from Old French (), from Latin (plural)) is a junior rank of a commissioned officer in the armed forces of some countries, normally in the infantry or navy. Jørgen Iversen Dyppel (February 25, 1638 – 1683), also called George Iversen or Ifversen, or sometimes Doppel in Knox, was the first governor of the renewed establishment of St. Thomas in the Danish West Indies, from 1672 to 1680. John Lorentz
Johan Lorensen (d. 1702) was a Danish colonial administrator who twice served as governor of the Danish West Indies from October 1689 to 17 September 1692 and 7 April 1693 to 19 February 1702. Little is known about his career or personal life outside his governorship in the West Indies. Biography Early life Lorensen was born in Flensburg, Denmark. He first arrived on the St. Thomas along with Gabriel Milan in 1684, having contracted to serve the Danish West India Company for four years. However, in 1686, he was back in Denmark, to testify in the trial against Milan, who was under scrutiny due to his gubernatorial rule. In 1688, Lorensen returned with Adolph Esmit to the West Indies, as bookkeeper and assistant. For this, his wage was 14 Danish rigsdaler per month. Joachim Melchior Holten (17 March 1671 – 21 December 1708), also referred to as Jochum von Holten, was Governor of the Danish West Indies from 8 February 1706 to his death on 21 December 1708. He was the father-in-law of Johan Lorentz Castenschiold.
