Claudio Corti (motorcyclist)
Claudio Corti (born 25 June 1987) is a Grand Prix motorcycle racer from Italy. He currently competes in the British National Superstock 1000 Championship aboard a Kawasaki ZX-10R. Career Early career Born in Como, Corti progressed up the motorcycling ladder through the Italian 125GP Championship and by 2004, he had finished as runner-up in the Italian Supersport Championship. In 2005, Corti moved into the European Superstock 600cc Cup, run on the Superbike World Championship support package. Riding for the Trasimeno team, Corti and France's Yoann Tiberio battled for the championship title, with Corti claiming the honours by eight points. He finished his first seven races on the podium, including five victories. He also competed in the Italian Supersport, Superstock and Superbike series; he twice finished as runner-up in the championship in Superstock in 2006 and 2007, and was runner-up in Superbikes in 2008. The 2010 Spanish motorcycle Grand Prix, officially the Gran Premio bwin de España, was the second round of the 2010 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season. It took place on the weekend of 30 April–2 May 2010 at the Circuito de Jerez located in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. Jorge Lorenzo snatched a last-lap win in the MotoGP race to move top of the world championship standings. 2012 Valencian Community Motorcycle Grand Prix
The 2012 Valencian Community motorcycle Grand Prix was the eighteenth and final round of the 2012 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season. It took place on the weekend of 9–11 November 2012 at the Circuito Ricardo Tormo. The race was Casey Stoner's last before his retirement from the sport, and he finished it on the podium in third position. Dani Pedrosa won the race for Honda and ensure the season ended with 18 points between himself and new champion Jorge Lorenzo, who retired from the race, at the top of the riders' standings. The result meant that Pedrosa had won 6 of the last 8 races, and that Lorenzo maintained his record of finishing first or second in every race he finished in 2012. 2012 French Motorcycle Grand Prix
The 2012 French motorcycle Grand Prix was the fourth round of the 2012 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season. It took place on the weekend of 18–20 May 2012 at the Bugatti Circuit in Le Mans, France. In a press conference on the Thursday before the race, Casey Stoner announced his retirement from the sport at the end of the season. He went on to finish third in the MotoGP race, handing the championship lead to Jorge Lorenzo, the race winner. Valentino Rossi took second place for his first podium since 2011 French motorcycle Grand Prix, the previous year's race. Thomas Lüthi and Louis Rossi won the Moto2 and Moto3 races respectively. 2010 Qatar Motorcycle Grand Prix
The 2010 Qatar motorcycle Grand Prix, officially the Commercialbank Grand Prix of Qatar, was the opening round of the 2010 MotoGP championship. It took place on the weekend of 9–11 April 2010 at the Losail International Circuit located in Doha, Qatar. Spectator attendance was 7302. Defending world champion Valentino Rossi won the opening MotoGP race after Casey Stoner crashed while in the lead, ending his undefeated streak from 2007. This was also the first race for the newly formed Moto2 class, which was introduced as a replacement for the 250cc two-stroke class. In a motorsports race, the pole position is usually the best and "statistically the most advantageous" starting position on the track. The pole position is usually earned by the driver with the best qualifying times in the trials before the race. The number-one qualifying driver is also referred to as the pole-sitter. Eskil Suter
Eskil Suter (born 29 June 1967) is a former Grand Prix motorcycle road racer and current motorcycle chassis constructor from Switzerland. Motorcycle racing career Born in Turbenthal, Zürich, Switzerland, Suter finished in second place in the 1991 250cc International Lightweight class at the Daytona International Speedway. Suter had his best seasons in 1994 and 1996 when he finished in 13th place in the 250cc world championship. He raced in one round of the 1997 Superbike World Championship but failed to score any points. In the 1998 500cc season, he was a development rider for the MuZ team that used a Swissauto engine in a French-made ROC frame. Silverstone Circuit
Silverstone Circuit is a motor racing circuit in England, near the Northamptonshire villages of Towcester, Silverstone and Whittlebury. It is the home of the British Grand Prix, which it first hosted as the 1948 British Grand Prix.
