Barbara Boyd (Ohio Politician)
Barbara Boyd (April 24, 1942 – November 5, 2022) was an American politician. She served twice as a Democratic Party (United States), Democratic member of the Ohio House of Representatives, serving the 9th district from 2007 to 2014, and the same district from 1993 until 2000. Early life and education Boyd was born in Cleveland and graduated from Saint Paul's College (Virginia), Saint Paul's College in Lawrenceville, Virginia. Career Boyd worked on President Jimmy Carter's campaign as a start to politics. She became the first African American elected to Cleveland Heights City Council in 1983, where she would ultimately serve as mayor. Boyd also worked with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, as well as with the Children's Defense Fund. The Ohio House of Representatives is the lower house of the Ohio General Assembly, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Ohio; the other house of the bicameral legislature being the Ohio Senate. The House of Representatives first met in Chillicothe on March 3, 1803, under the later superseded state constitution of that year. In 1816, the capital was moved to Columbus, where it is located today. Members are limited to four successive two-year elected terms (terms are considered successive if they are separated by less than four years). Vascular dementia (VaD) is dementia caused by problems in the supply of blood to the brain, typically a series of minor strokes, leading to worsening cognitive abilities, the decline occurring piecemeal.
