Claude Moore
Major-General Claude Douglas Hamilton Moore (9 February 1875 – September 1928) was a British Army officer. Military career Moore was commissioned into the Suffolk Regiment on 27 November 1895. After transferring to the Royal Warwickshire Regiment, he fought in the Second Boer War and also saw action on the Western Front in the early stages of the First World War for which he was appointed a Companion of the Distinguished Service Order. He became commander of the 157th (Highland Light Infantry) Brigade serving in the Middle Eastern theatre in October 1916 before later becoming commander of the Ahmednagar Brigade in India in January 1920. The Middle Eastern theatre of World War I saw action between 29 October 1914 and 30 October 1918. The combatants were, on one side, the Ottoman Empire (including the majority of Kurdish tribes, a relative majority of Arabs, and Caucasian ''Tatars''), with some assistance from the other Central Powers; and on the other side, the British (with the help of Jews, Greeks, Assyrians, some Kurdish tribes, and many Arabs, along with Hindu and Muslim colonial troops from India), the Russians (with the help of Armenians, Assyrians, and occasionally some Kurdish tribes) and the French (with its North African and West African Muslim colonial troops) from among the Allied Powers. The Most Honourable Order of the Bath is a British order of chivalry founded by George I on 18 May 1725. The name derives from the elaborate medieval ceremony for appointing a knight, which involved bathing (as a symbol of purification) as one of its elements. The knights so created were known as "Knights of the Bath". George I "erected the Knights of the Bath into a regular Military Order". He did not (as is commonly believed) revive the Order of the Bath, since it had never previously existed as an Order, in the sense of a body of knights who were governed by a set of statutes and whose numbers were replenished when vacancies occurred. William Henry Beach
William Henry Beach (1871 – 22 July 1952) was a senior British Army officer who played an important role in the campaign in Mesopotamia 1915 to 1918. Early life and education William Henry Beach, universally known as Bill Beach, was the son of the late Canon W R Beach, Chaplain to the forces, and Sophia J. Watson, daughter of Dr. Thomas Watson, a well-known physician of Macao and Hong Kong. He was born on 7 June 1871 at 5 Belfast Terrace, Dublin, the younger brother of Thomas Boswall Beach. He was educated at Bloxham School, Wolverhampton Grammar School and the Royal Military Academy Woolwich. Arthur Solly-Flood
Major-General Arthur Solly-Flood (28 January 1871 − December 1940) was a British Army officer. Military career Born the son of Major-General Sir Frederick Solly-Flood and Constance Eliza Frere, Arthur Solly-Flood was educated at Wellington College, Berkshire and the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. He was commissioned into the South Lancashire Regiment in 1891. After seeing action in the Second Boer War, he became commanding officer of the 4th Royal Irish Dragoon Guards and, in that role, deployed to the Western Front during the First World War. He went on to be commander of the 35th Brigade during the Battle of the Somme in autumn 1916, Director-General of Training for the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) in January 1917 and General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 42nd (East Lancashire) Infantry Division in October 1917.
