Claude Drouin (ice Hockey)
Claude Drouin (born May 26, 1956) is a former Canadian politician. He was the member of Parliament representing the riding of Beauce from 1997 to 2006 and was also the Parliamentary Secretary to Prime Minister Paul Martin with special emphasis on Rural Communities. Born in Frampton, Quebec, Canada, Drouin is a former foreman and political advisor. He was elected as an MP for the riding of Beauce as a candidate for the Liberal Party of Canada in the 1997 election. Frampton, Quebec
Frampton is a municipality in La Nouvelle-Beauce Regional County Municipality in the Chaudière-Appalaches administrative region of Quebec. After the War of 1812, in the time of land grants were given to soldiers in the region as reward for their service to the British Crown. Brothers William and Gilbert Henderson, originally of the Shetland Islands, and Pierre-Edouard Desbarats, partnered in developing Frampton Township along with the surrounding towns of Saint-Malachie, where both Henderson brothers are buried, and Standon Township. The towns grew with the influx of Irish immigrants to Canada after the war. It is said that the well-read William Henderson gave the town the name Frampton in honour of Mary Frampton, an author in England from that period. Martin Cauchon, (born August 23, 1962) is a Canadian lawyer and politician in Quebec Canada. He is a former Liberal Cabinet Minister in the government of Jean Chrétien. He is married to Dorine Perron and together, they have three children : Charles, François and Catherine. Cauchon was born in La Malbaie, Quebec and studied law at the University of Ottawa and the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom. He worked as a lawyer from 1985 to 1993, and from 2004 to present. Cauchon was counsel with Gowlings and with the now-defunct law firm of Heenan Blaikie. Today, he is counsel at the Montreal office of DS Lawyers Canada LLP, an international law firm. He is also a Vice-Chairman of the Canada China Business Council.
