Claude Albert Mbourounot
Claude Albert Mbourounot is a Gabonese football manager. He is currently in charge of the Gabon national under-23 football team. In 2011, he led the under-23 side in winning the 2011 CAF U-23 Championship, thus qualifying Gabon for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. It will be the nation's very first appearance. Besides fulfilling his role as the under-23 coach, Mbourounot is also a technical director for the Gabonese Football Federation. Mbourounot had previously coached the Gabon senior team in 2003. CAF U-23 Championship
The Total Africa U-23 Cup of Nations (known as the CAF U-23 Championship until 2015) is the main international football competition for CAF nations, played by under 23 years old players. It is held every four years with the top three teams qualifying to the Olympic Games. History The tournament was founded in 2011. On 6 August 2015, the CAF Executive Committee decided to change the name of the tournament from the CAF U-23 Championship to the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations, similar to the senior's version, Africa Cup of Nations. The men's football tournament at the 2012 Summer Olympics was held in London and five other cities in Great Britain from 26 July to 11 August. Associations affiliated with FIFA were invited to enter their men's U-23 teams in regional qualifying competitions, from which 15 teams, plus the hosts Great Britain, reached the final tournament. Men's teams were allowed to augment their squads with three players over the age of 23. It was the first men's Olympic football tournament to feature a team representing Great Britain since the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome. The competition also marks the return of Uruguay to an Olympic Championship since 1928 when it became two-time champions. The gold medal was won by Mexico who defeated Brazil 2–1 in the final. 2011 CAF U-23 Championship
The 2011 African U-23 Championship was the first edition of the football tournament for players under 23 years. It was originally scheduled to be hosted by Egypt from 26 November to 10 December 2011. However, less than two months prior to the start of the tournament, Egyptian authorities decided against hosting the competition because of security concerns. On 13 October 2011, Morocco was chosen as the replacement to host the tournament. The tournament also doubles up as the qualifiers for the 2012 Summer Olympics. The top 3 placed teams qualified automatically for the 2012 Summer Olympics football tournament, while the 4th best placed team qualify for a play-off with an AFC counterpart.
