Claud Allister (born William Claud Michael Palmer, 3 October 1888 – 26 July 1970) was an English actor with an extensive film career in both Britain and Hollywood, where he appeared in more than 70 films between 1929 and 1955. Life and career He was born in London. After receiving his education at Felsted School in Essex, he began his career as a stockbroker's clerk in the City of London, but gave up a life in the Square Mile on deciding that he preferred the stage, upon which he made his début in 1910. He toured England's repertory theatres playing minor parts up to the outbreak of World War I, when he was commissioned into the British Army as a subaltern, and saw active service with the Suffolk Regiment and the Machine Gun Corps. Post-war he returned to acting, appearing in the West End in ''Bulldog Drummond'', and in 1924 went to America to perform on the stage there initially. Claud O'Donnell
Claud Augustus O'Donnell (30 January 1886 – 4 August 1953) was an Australian rugby union and rugby league player and represented his country at both sports as a dual-code rugby international. Rugby union career O'Donnell played rugby union with the Glebe club in inner city Sydney. He made his representative debut for New South Wales in 1912 and the following year made two Test appearances as hooker for the Wallabies against the All Blacks in the 1913 tour of New Zealand. Rugby league career Switching to rugby league O'Donnell joined the Glebe Dirty Reds in 1915 and had three seasons in the Sydney premiership. In 1918 he moved to Brisbane and joined the Carltons club, one of the early incarnations of the Souths Magpies. Lord Claud Nigel Hamilton (10 November 1889 – 2 August 1975) was a British Army officer and courtier. Family and education The youngest son of James Hamilton, 2nd Duke of Abercorn, and Lady Mary Anna Curzon-Howe, he was educated at Wellington College, Berkshire. On 11 July 1933 he married Violet Ruby Newall (née Ashton), mother of Pamela Newall (later Baroness Sharples). They had no children. Lord Claud Hamilton PC (27 July 1813 – 3 June 1884) was a British Conservative politician. He notably served as Treasurer of the Household in 1852 and between 1858 and 1859 and as Vice-Chamberlain of the Household between 1866 and 1868. Lord Claud Hamilton (1 November 1787 – June 1808) was a British nobleman and politician. He sat briefly in the House of Commons before dying of illness in Madeira at the age of 20. The younger son of John Hamilton, 1st Marquess of Abercorn, he was evidently educated at Harrow School, where he was a lieutenant of volunteers in 1803. Claud Neville Woolley (5 May 1886 – 3 November 1962) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Gloucestershire and Northamptonshire. He also served as a first-class umpire and stood in one Test during the 1948 Ashes series. The Rt Rev Claude Thomas Thelluson Wood (27 February 1885 – 17 January 1961) was an eminent Bishop in the mid part of the twentieth century. Early years Born at St Leonards-on-Sea, Sussex he was a brother of Norman Frederic Ticehurst (1873-1960) and their father was Dr. A. R. Ticehurst. Ticehurst received early education at a preparatory school and then went to Tonbridge School (1892-1900) and subsequently attended St John's College, Cambridge, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in 1903. Claud Eustace Teal is a fictional character who made many appearances in a series of novels, novellas and short stories by Leslie Charteris featuring '' The Saint'', starting in 1929. A common spelling variation of his first name in reference works and websites is Claude, however in his works Charteris uses the spelling without the 'e'. History Teal was a London-based police detective for Scotland Yard, with which he initially held the rank of Inspector. Severn joined the colonial civil service in British Malaya in 1894 and worked under the Governor of the Straits Settlements.
