Johan Frederik Classen
Johan Frederik Classen, frequently also J. F. Classen, (11 February 1725 – 24 March 1792) was a Danish people, Danish-Norwegian people, Norwegian business magnate, industrialist, major general, landowner and founder of Det Classenske Fideicommis. He served as chancellor, chancellery adviser to Frederick V of Denmark, King Frederik V. Classen built the manor house Arresødal in 1773, he renovated the Neoclassical architecture, Neoclassical manor house Corselitze in 1777, and built the General's Summerhouse by the Corselitze Forest. Early years Classen was born in Oslo (then called Christiania), where his father (from Sønderborg on the Danish island of Als (island), Als), was an organist. Greg Classen
Gregory Dean "Greg" Classen (born August 24, 1977) is a German-Canadian former professional ice hockey centre. Classen played a total of 90 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) all with the Nashville Predators. He also appeared in 321 American Hockey League (AHL) games between six seasons and four different teams. After his career in North America, he moved to Europe and retired after the 2018–19 season in the German Eishockey-Oberliga with the Rostock Piranhas. In total Classen played 21 seasons professionally with 15 different clubs. Playing career Classen played four seasons of junior hockey for the Nipawin Hawks of the SJHL from 1994 to 1998. He then went on to play two seasons of hockey at Merrimack College competing in the Hockey East Division of the NCAA. While at Merrimack, he earned a spot on the Hockey East All-Rookie Team. The Classen Library, ( Danish: Det Classenske Bibliotek) was a public library in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was created from the private book collection of Johan Frederik Classen, at the time of his death in 1792. It was the third largest library in the city, surpassed only by the Royal Danish Library and Copenhagen University Library and existed until 1867 when it was merged with the latter. Its building at 38, Amaliegade now houses ''Det Konserveringsfaglige Videncenter'', a centre for conservation. It was listed in 1918. Aimée Classen is an American ecologist who studies the impact of global changes on a diverse array of terrestrial ecosystems. Her work is notable for its span across ecological scales and concepts, and the diversity of terrestrial ecosystems that it encompasses, including forests, meadows, bogs, and tropics in Temperate climate, temperate and Boreal climate, boreal climates. Peter Hersleb Classen, frequently also P. H. Classen, (10 March 1738 – 19 May 1825) was a Norwegian- Danish statesman and director of Det Classenske Fideicommis. Career Classen was born in Christiania, Norway. After completing schooling in Christiania in 1756, Classen attended the University of Copenhagen. Gertrud Classen
Gertrud Classen (3 July 1905 – 3 September 1974) was a German resistance activist during the Nazi years. Her training was as an artist, and after the war she was able to make a career as a sculptor in the German Democratic Republic, despite being frequently hospitalised during the later 1940s by the osseous tuberculosis from which she suffered. Life Gertrud "Tutta" Classen was born in Königsberg, the capital of East Prussia which at that time was part of Germany. Her father was a farm manager. The Classen Mansion (Danish language, Danish: ''Det Classenske Palæ'') is a Neoclassical architecture, Neoclassical manor house situated on Strandgade in Helsingør, Denmark. It was built for a prosperous businessman in the 1790s and now houses the local Odd Fellows, Odd Fellows Lodge. The house overlooks Helsingør's harbourfront at Wibroes Plads and is flanked by Skibsklarerergaarden to the left and the Stephan Hansen Mansion to the right. Andy Classen
Andy Classen is a German record producer, sound engineer and musician. Holy Moses He began his career in 1980 as a guitarist for the German thrash metal band Holy Moses, fronted by his ex-wife Sabina Classen. In 1989 the band bought a house in the village of Borgentreich-Bühne in the vicinity of Warburg, North Rhine-Westphalia. In 1990 they founded a record label named 'West Virginia Records' and opened the Stage-One-Studio in their new house (so named because "Bühne" is German for "stage"). He remained lead guitarist in Holy Moses till 1994. Creative differences that had arisen during the production of the Holy Moses album ''No Matter What's the Cause'' (1994) with bassist Dan Lilker and Ryker's drummer Meff lead to Andy Classen leaving the band. Johannes Classen
Johannes Classen (November 21, 1805, Hamburg – August 31, 1891, Hamburg) was a German educator and classical philologist. Classen was educated at the Gelehrtenschule des Johanneums. He studied philology at the University of Leipzig, afterwards continuing his education at Bonn, where he was a student of Barthold Georg Niebuhr. From 1827 he lived in the home of Niebuhr, whose son Marcus was tutored by Classen. After the death of Niebuhr on January 2, 1831, and of his wife nine days later, Classen took care of his former teacher's three children. In 1829 he received his habilitation at Bonn, and in 1832 served as an assistant at the Joachimsthalsche Gymnasium in Berlin. During the following year he became a professor at the Katharineum zu Lübeck. Carl Joachim Classen (15 August 1928 - 29 September 2013) was a German classical scholar. Biography Classen studied classics at Göttingen and Hamburg. His academic teachers include Ernst Zinn and Bruno Snell in Hamburg and Kurt Latte in Göttingen. After being promoted to ''Dr. phil.'' in 1952 he took the first and second state examination in 1952 and 1956, respectively. He attained the B. Litt. at the University of Oxford in 1956 and worked as a lecturer of classics at the University of Ibadan for three years. Sabina Classen ( Hirtz; born 27 December 1963) is a German thrash metal singer, best known as lead vocalist of Holy Moses and Temple of the Absurd.
