Clas Frietzcky
Claes de Frietzcky (25 January 1727 – 9 October 1803) was a Swedish politician. Life and work Claes de Frietzcky was born at Alkvettern Ironworks, in Bjurtjärn, to the noble family de Frietzcky. He was the eight and youngest son of Johan de Frietzcky and Anna Elisabeth Linroth. In 1754 he became manager of the Storfors factory located outside Filipstad. He was a skilled business owner but left this profession to engage in politics. He became one of the leading people of the Caps party and during the transformations of the Swedish state in 1772, he joined the aristocratic opposition, which defended the rights of the Swedish Parliament towards the king. Bjurtjärn Socken
Bjurtjärn socken is a former socken in Värmland, Sweden. It was established in 1630, when Karlskoga socken were split into two new entities. Since 1974, it has been part of the Storfors Municipality. Its largest settlement, Kyrksten, has a population of about 300. History The Bjurtjärn Church was built in the 17th century. Various items that is kept at this site were donated by the influential Linroth family. In 1854, more than 200 emigrants from Bjurtjärn settled in Pepin County, in the US state of Wisconsin. Filipstad
Filipstad is a locality and the seat of Filipstad Municipality, Värmland County, Sweden, with 10,644 inhabitants in 2019. Filipstad was granted city privileges in 1611 by Charles IX of Sweden, who named it after his son Duke Carl Philip (1601–1622; younger brother of Gustavus Adolphus). After a major fire destroyed forest and town in 1694, Filipstad lost its privileges, as it was believed the remaining forest would not be sustainable if the town were to be rebuilt. In 1835 the rights were regranted. The local government acts of 1862 made the very privileges obsolete, but the title ''stad'' (''city'') remained in use until the municipal reform of 1971. Since then Filipstad is the seat of the larger Filipstad Municipality. Filipstad is, despite its small population, for historical reasons, normally still referred to as a ''city''. Gustav III
Gustav III (29 March 1792), also called ''Gustavus III'', was King of Sweden from 1771 until his assassination in 1792. He was the eldest son of Adolf Frederick of Sweden and Queen Louisa Ulrika of Prussia. Gustav was a vocal opponent of what he saw as the abuse of political privileges seized by the nobility since the death of King Charles XII. Seizing power from the government in a coup d'état, called the Swedish Revolution, in 1772 that ended the Age of Liberty, he initiated a campaign to restore a measure of Royal autocracy, which was completed by the Union and Security Act of 1789, which swept away most of the powers exercised by the Swedish Riksdag (parliament) during the Age of Liberty, but at the same time it opened up the government for all citizens, thereby breaking the privileges of the nobility. Caps (party)
The Caps ( sv, mössorna) were a political faction during the Age of Liberty (1719–1772) in Sweden. The primary rivals of the Caps were known as the Hats. The Hats are actually responsible for the Caps' name, as it comes from a contraction of Night-cap, a name used to suggest that the Caps were the soft and timid party. The Caps represented mostly peasants and clergymen. Policy The foremost representative of the Age of Liberty, ''de facto'' leader of government and of the Caps from 1719 to 1738 was the Chancery President, Count Arvid Horn. Linroth Family
The Linroth family, also known as Linderoth family, was a Swedish noble family, that rose to prominence with Elias Linroth. The family was elevated to noble rank in the Kingdom of Sweden. Its grants of arms is preserved at the House of Nobility, following its dissolution. Overview The earliest known member of the Linroth family, Laurentius Theodori, served as a vicar.
