Clark G. Fiester
Clark George Fiester (1934–1995) was an American businessman who served as Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Acquisition) from 1993 until his death in a plane crash in 1995. Biography Clark G. Fiester was born on January 25, 1934. He was educated at Pennsylvania State University (B.S.) and Stanford University (M.S.). He later attended a six-week Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He served in the United States Air Force and became a captain. In 1957, Fiester joined GTE Government Systems Corp. (which would be acquired by General Dynamics in 1999), a company that designed and developed information security, electro-optics, and automated airport weather stations. Fiester was associated with GTE Government Systems Corp. for his entire career, eventually becoming a group vice president and general manager. The Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics) (SAF/AQ) is a civilian position in the Department of the Air Force that is appointed by the President of the United States and confirmed by the United States Senate. This position is established under Title 10 US Code Section 9016 and is one of five Assistant Secretary positions under the Secretary of the Air Force. The Assistant Secretary reports to the Secretary of the Air Force. Under the law a Principal Military Deputy serves with the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition. Arlington National Cemetery
Arlington National Cemetery is one of two national cemeteries run by the United States Army. Nearly 400,000 people are buried in its 639 acres (259 ha) in Arlington, Virginia. There are about 30 funerals conducted on weekdays and 7 held on Saturday. The other Army cemetery is in Washington, D.C. and is called the U.S. Soldiers' and Airmen's Home National Cemetery. All other national cemeteries are run by the National Cemetery System of the Department of Veterans Affairs. Randolph Air Force Base
Randolph Air Force Base was an United States Air Force base located at Universal City, Texas ( east-northeast of Downtown San Antonio). Opened in 1931, Randolph has been a flying training facility for the United States Army Air Corps, the United States Army Air Forces, and the Air Force during its entire existence. On 1 October 2010, Randolph AFB merged with Lackland Air Force Base and the US Army's Fort Sam Houston to form Joint Base San Antonio. Naming Randolph AFB was named after Captain William Millican Randolph, a native of Austin, who was on the base naming committee at the time of his death in a crash.
