Clark County Council
The Clark County Council is the legislative body of Clark County, Washington, United States. The county council consists of five members, four elected by district, and one elected at-large. The Council adopts laws, sets policy, and holds final approval over the budget. Members History The county council was created on November 4, 2014, by Clark County voters as part of a home rule charter, which replaced the traditional three-member county commission with a three-member Board of County Councilors. The council was expanded to five members on January 1, 2016. The county council adopted its current name in January 2018. Clark County was the seventh county in Washington to adopt a home rule charter. Clark County is the southernmost county in the U.S. state of Washington. As of the 2020 census, the population was 503,311, making it Washington's fifth-most populous county. Its county seat and largest city is Vancouver. It was the first county in Washington, named after William Clark of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. A county council is the elected administrative body governing an area known as a county. This term has slightly different meanings in different countries. A county commission (or a board of county commissioners) is a group of elected officials (county commissioners) collectively charged with administering the county government in some states of the United States; such commissions usually comprise three to five members.
