Clarence Spencer
Clarence Grenville Spencer (5 August 1909 – 1979) was an English footballer who played in the Football League for Port Vale, Barrow and Carlisle United. Career Spencer played for Butler's Hill and was on Birmingham's books, though without appearing for the first-team, before joining Second Division side Port Vale in June 1930. After making his debut at the Old Recreation Ground in a 2–0 win over Swansea Town on 11 October 1930, he became a first-team regular. He scored his first goal in the Football League seven days later, in a 3–0 win over Reading at Elm Park. However, after breaking an ankle on 26 January 1931, in a 3–1 home defeat to Everton, he lost his place to Dennis Izon and failed to win it back upon his recovery. He played just four games the next season and was given a free transfer in May 1932. Bestwood Village
Bestwood Village is an area and civil parish in the Gedling district of Nottinghamshire. Until 1 April 2018 it was part of the civil parish of Bestwood St. Albans. A small part of the village falls within the Ashfield district council area. There have been several new housing estates built recently including the redevelopment of the former Bayles and Whylie factory site which was a former glue mill. It is to the east of Hucknall and north of Bulwell. It is neighboured to the north by the village of Papplewick. It is also close to the Bestwood Park Estate which is in the City of Nottingham. It was once a colliery village but is now considered a more affluent area of the Nottingham conurbation. Bestwood Mill Lakes are a park in the village, the lakes having been constructed from defunct water mills. In professional association football, a free transfer, also known as a Bosman transfer, involves a professional association football club releasing a player when the player's contract has expired or made available just before the end of the contract. The player can then go on to sign for any club offering a contract to them.
