Clarence Gaines Award
The Clarence "Big House" Gaines Award is an award given annually by CollegeInsider.com to the most outstanding men's college basketball head coach in NCAA Division II. The award was established in 2011 and is named for the late Clarence Gaines, who coached for 47 years at Winston-Salem State University. East Stroudsburg University
East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU) is a public university in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. It is one of ten state universities that compose the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE). History What today is East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania was founded in 1893 as a private preparatory school for teachers and then known as the East Stroudsburg Normal School. Ownership was transferred to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1920, and the name was changed to East Stroudsburg State Normal School. In 1927, the right to confer the degrees of Bachelor of Science in education and Bachelor of Science in health education was granted, and the school's name then became the East Stroudsburg State Teachers College. Grady Brewer (basketball)
Grady Lamont Brewer (born December 22, 1970) is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1999 to 2015. A former IBA and International Boxing Council (IBC) Light Middleweight titleholder, he is the 2006 winner of the ESPN reality show, '' The Contender''. Outside the ring, he works at the Goodyear plant in Lawton to support his wife and four children. In a family of boxers, it was natural that Brewer would also pick up the gloves. His amateur career started at age 11, and Brewer went on to win 40 of his 45 fights, the Oklahoma Golden Gloves tournament in his weight class, as well as winning a toughman tournament in Lawton, Oklahoma. Hawaii Pacific Sharks
The Hawaii Pacific Sharks are the 13 varsity athletic teams that represent Hawaii Pacific University, located in Honolulu, Hawaii, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The Sharks compete as members of the Pacific West Conference. Hawaii Pacific University's first venture into intercollegiate athletics came with the formation of the men's basketball team. The university previously competed in the NAIA before joining the NCAA in the mid-1990s. On August 1, 2014, HPU athletics announced that they had changed their name from the Sea Warriors to the Sharks as part of a fundraising effort and to "better align ourselves with the rest of the university." The Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters are the athletic teams that represent Lincoln Memorial University, located in Harrogate, Tennessee, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The Railsplitters compete as members of the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) for most varsity sports, although the bowling team competes in the Conference Carolinas and the men's volleyball program plays as an independent. Josh Schertz
Josh Schertz is an American basketball coach who is the current head coach of the Indiana State Sycamores men's basketball team. Coaching career Schertz's coaching career began as a student assistant with Florida Atlantic for the 1999–2000 season. He'd then move on to Lynn, where he was an assistant for two seasons before a two-year assistant coaching stop at Queens University in North Carolina. In 2003, Schertz would follow Queens' head coach Bart Lundy to High Point where he'd stay until 2008 when he accepted the head coaching position at Lincoln Memorial. In his 13 years coaching the Railsplitters posted 11-straight 20-win seasons, including four 30-win seasons en route to 10 NCAA Division II men's basketball tournament appearances. The MSU Moorhead Dragons (also MSUM Dragons and formerly Moorhead State Dragons) are the athletic teams that represent Minnesota State University Moorhead, located in Moorhead, Minnesota, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The Dragons generally compete as members of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference for all 14 varsity sports.
