Clara Lara FunPark
Clara Lara FunPark is an outdoor adventure and water park in County Wicklow, Ireland. History The park was opened by Peter Morphew in 1983, under the name "Clara-Lara Trout Farm and Funpark". It is located in the Vale of Clara; it takes its name from that and from the nearby village of Laragh. It only covered at that time. The founder said that he wanted "it to be as far removed from Disneyland as possible €¦absolutely rural and as rustic, without any concrete at all." In 1995, a 14-year-old girl received a facial scar in an accident at Clara Lara; she was awarded IR£10,000 but never received it because the park had no insurance at the time. In 2003, the founder, Peter Morphew, was convicted of possession of child pornography as a result of the Operation Amethyst investigation, and received a six-month sentence. Rathdrum, County Wicklow
Rathdrum () is a village in County Wicklow, Ireland. It is situated high on the western side of the Avonmore river valley, which flows through the Vale of Clara. Transport Railway Rathdrum is served by mainline train and bus from Dublin and Rosslare. Rathdrum railway station opened on 18 July 1863, replacing the earlier terminus at Rathdrum (Kilcommon) (opened on 20 August 1861) when the line was extended. Amphicats
The Amphicat is a six-wheel-drive, skid steer amphibious all-terrain vehicle invented in Spain by José Artés de Arcos, manufactured in the late 1960s through the early 1970s by Mobility Unlimited Inc. of Auburn Hills, Michigan. The product line was purchased by Magna American (a division of Magna Corporation) which produced the vehicle in Raymond, Mississippi for several years. The vehicle was also made in Canada by Behoo Industries and differed slightly from its American counterpart, mostly on the transom. Avonmore River
The Avonmore River (), also known as ''Abhainn Dé'' (also spelt ''Abhainn Dea''), flows from Lough Dan in the Wicklow Mountains west of Roundwood. It flows in a generally southerly direction for approximately before joining the Avonbeg at the Meeting of the Waters (''Cumar an dá Uisce'') to form the River Avoca, which in turn discharges into the Irish Sea at Arklow. From source to sea the river remains in East Wicklow. Downstream from Lough Dan the Avonmore reaches the village of Annamoe where it is crossed by the R755 regional road. From there is descends to Laragh and down through a heavily wooded valley to Rathdrum. Operation Amethyst
Operation Amethyst was a Garda SÃochána (police) operation targeting child pornography in the Republic of Ireland. Involving simultaneous searches on May 27, 2002 of over 100 individuals suspected of downloading child pornography, it was one of the largest police operations in Ireland's history. Following a United States Postal Service investigation in the United States, details of 130 people were passed to the Garda SÃochána.
