	Phillip Clancey Phillip Alexander Clancey (26 September 1917 – 18 July 2001) was a leading authority on the ornithology of South Africa. Background and education Phillip Clancey was born, brought up and educated in Glasgow, Scotland. He studied at the Glasgow School of Art where his artistic skills were developed. Military service Clancey served in the 51st (Highland) Division with the Allied forces in Sicily and Italy during World War II, narrowly escaping death and being deafened in one ear by an artillery explosion. Following his death in 2001, Clancey's military medals, together with his "Gill Memorial Medal" were auctioned by City Coins, Cape Town, in 2006, on behalf of the Clancey Estate. These medals, including the Gill Memorial Medal were purchased on the auction by David R. Clancey was born on 9 November 1881 in St. Louis, Missouri to John Clancy and Lucy Lumpkins. He starred in several silent films, most of them with the American Film Manufacturing Company, American Film Company of Santa Barbara, California, Santa Barbara. He is best known for playing the character of a restaurant owner nicknamed ''Alexander the Great'' in the 1916 Arthur Maude movie ''Lord Loveland Discovers America''. He also played the character ''Hook Barnacle'' in several of the 15 episodes of the adventure serial ''The Secret of the Submarine''. He married May Cornell, and died on 13 November 1921 in Cairo, Illinois. Clancey edited 30 Hollywood films at Fox and United Artists from 1927 to 1938. Biography Margaret, daughter of Austin Lysight and Cornelia Hill, was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona. In her teens, after graduating from high school (where she was class valedictorian, wrote for her high school magazine, and starred in school plays), she moved to Los Angeles in 1915 to pursue an acting career. She quickly found work in minor roles at Keystone and Fine Arts; she played several minor roles in D.W.
