Claisebrook Railway Station
Claisebrook railway station is a railway station on the Transperth network. It is located on the Armadale/Thornlie line, Midland line and Airport line, 1.3 kilometres from Perth station serving the suburb of East Perth. History Opened in 1883 under the name East Perth, Claisebrook station is a busy junction along the Midland and Armadale/Thornlie lines due to both lines running through the station and the Claisebrook railway depot being next door. The original railway station was built in timber with hardwood weatherboarding and external and timber lining. Rendered brick fireplaces were built in two of the rooms - possibly the waiting rooms and railway staff room and had very elegant rendered chimney caps providing a balance to the roof. The Battye library carries the original plans and shows exposed heavy timber trussing of the roof which was very typical of the architecture of railway buildings of the era. Graham Farmer Freeway
Graham Farmer Freeway is a inner-city freeway in Perth, Western Australia. It links Rivervale and Burswood with West Perth and Leederville, providing an east-west bypass of Perth's central business district. The freeway, in conjunction with Great Eastern Highway and Orrong Road, is also an important connection between the city centre and Perth Airport. It is allocated State Route 8, and was named in honour of the Australian rules footballer, Graham "Polly" Farmer, who played between 1953 and 1971 in both the West Australian and Victorian Football Leagues. Claisebrook Railway Depot
Claisebrook railway depot (also known as Claisebrook railcar depot) is a Transperth Trains depot adjacent to Claisebrook station, at 122 Kensington Street, East Perth. When trains leave this depot, they connect with the Midland, Fremantle, Armadale, and Joondalup lines. In the 1940s, Claisebrook road depot referred to the then tramway depot adjoining the railway property in East Perth and much earlier in the 1860s the term Claisebrook depot referred to the convict depot. Function The railway depot's primary purpose is to service, refurbish and upgrade Transperth's A-Series railcars. The newer B-series railcars may also be stabled at Claisebrook railway depot for work that cannot be done at Mandurah or Nowergup at any time and for events such as the Australian Football League games on weekends at Perth Stadium and also for the Airport trains on the Airport Line. Yellow CAT (Perth)
The Perth Central Area Transit (Perth CAT) system, or simply CAT, consists of five bus routes in the centre of Perth, one bus route in Fremantle, and three bus routes in Joondalup. Similar services exist in Rockingham (the City Centre Transit System) and Midland (the Midland Gate Shuttle). Unlike all other Transperth services, most CAT routes are free. Transperth is the brand name of the public transport system serving the city and suburban areas of Perth, the state capital of Western Australia. Midland Railway Station, Perth
Midland railway station is the terminus of the Midland line in Perth. Western Australia. It is operated by Transperth and is connected with the feeder bus services that utilise the adjacent bus terminal in Midland. History Midland station was opened on 8 October 1968 by Minister for Transport & Railways Ray O'Connor as a replacement for Midland Junction station when the main Eastern Railway was being converted to dual gauge. It originally had four narrow gauge platform faces, three terminating and one through. A separate platform was provided for the standard gauge line 150 metres away. Thornlie Station is a railway station on the Transperth network. It is the terminus of the Thornlie spur of the Armadale Line, from Perth Station serving the suburb of Thornlie, Western Australia. Under construction is the Thornlie-Cockburn Link which will link to Cockburn Central railway station along the Mandurah line via two new stations, Nicholson Road railway station and Ranford Road railway station. Armadale Railway Station, Perth
Armadale Station is a railway station on the South Western Railway, 30 kilometres from Perth station serving the suburb of Armadale, Brookdale and Haynes. It is the terminating point for Transperth Armadale line services and a calling point for Transwa ''Australind'' services. History The original station opened on 2 May 1893 when the South Western Railway opened from Claisebrook to Pinjarra. As part of the electrification of the line in the early 1990s, a new station was built with the former signal box relocated to the Armadale Tourist Centre. Claise Brook
Claise Brook is a stream which empties into Claisebrook Cove before running into the Swan River in Perth, Western Australia. The area surrounding the stream is on the outskirts of the Perth CBD and is part of the suburb of East Perth. Claise Brook was once an important water course from which the numerous interconnected fresh water lakes north of Perth emptied into during the wet season before entering the Swan River. History Since the gradual resumption of land over the various feeder lakes, and more recently the East Perth redevelopment in the late 1980s, the stream has become a mainly underground catchment and drainage system and no longer exists as a stream in the normal sense. East Perth railway station is located on the Midland line and Airport line in Perth, Western Australia. It is operated by Transperth serving the suburb of East Perth. It is adjacent to the East Perth Terminal and Public Transport Centre.
