Clairette Oddera
Clairette, (April 3, 1919 – October 28, 2008) was a Quebec-based France, French actress and singer. After her own career slowed down she became the proprietor of Montreal's "Chez Clairette" nightclub. In later life she received official honors for her cultural influence in giving a career break to many up-and-coming entertainers who later became famous. She was born Claire Françoise Oddera in 1919 to Charles Oddera and Rose Fanucci in Marseille, France, Marseille (however her birthname is given as Claire Oderra in many sources). At the age of 20 she became a waitress in the canteen of a local French film studio, owned by writer and filmmaker Marcel Pagnol, who provided her with her first film role in ''The Well-Digger's Daughter (1940 film), La fille du puisatier'' (1939). She adopted the stage name Clairette at the suggestion of Fernandel. She was later working in radio, where she was also known as a singer. Clairette, Texas
Clairette is an unincorporated community located in Erath County in Central Texas. Clairette is situated in the southern part of the county along Texas State Highway 6 and the Bosque River 5 miles northwest of Hico, and 16 miles to the east of Dublin. Clairette was founded during the 1880s when the Texas Central line part of the historic Katy Railroad was constructed through the townsite on its way from the Waco area to Stamford with a branch to Cross Plains from the line at De Leon. The Katy abandoned the line through Clairette in the late 1960s. Clairette was named after a now defunct brand of soap that was popular at the time. At its peak, Clairette had a population of around 300 however, from the 1970s through the 2000s Clairette's population remained at a steady 60. Clairette blanche is a white wine grape variety most widely grown in the wine regions of Provence wine, Provence, Rhône (wine region), Rhône and Languedoc wine, Languedoc in France. At the end of the 1990s, there were of Clairette blanche grown in France, although volumes are decreasing. Clairette blanche was often used to make vermouth, to which it is suited as it produces wine high in alcohol and low in acidity, and therefore yields wines that are sometimes described as "flabby" and which tend to oxidize easily. These problems have sometimes been partially overcome by blending it with high-acid varieties such as Piquepoul blanc.
