Claire Elizabeth Szabó is a New Zealand chief executive officer and was president of the New Zealand Labour Party from 2019 to 2022. Biography Her father came to New Zealand as a refugee from Hungary in 1956 following the Hungarian Uprising, her mother was a nurse. She grew up in Papakura in a council house. After finishing her high school education at Diocesan School for Girls in Auckland, she studied music at the University of Auckland and later gained degrees at Trinity College Dublin in Education Management, Victoria University of Wellington in Commerce and Administration, and Harvard University in Public Administration. In 2006, aged 27, she became the chief executive officer of English Language Partners New Zealand. In 2013, she became the chief executive officer of Habitat for Humanity New Zealand. Nigel Haworth
Nigel Anthony Fell Haworth (born 1951) is a New Zealand economics academic and politician. He was elected President of the New Zealand Labour Party in February 2015, succeeding Moira Coatsworth. Education and academic career Born in Wales in 1951, Haworth studied economics at the University of Liverpool, and completed a PhD there in 1982. He specialises in Latin American studies and the international labour market. From 1978 to 1988, Haworth was a lecturer in industrial relations at the University of Strathclyde. He then emigrated to New Zealand to take up a post at the University of Auckland, becoming a professor in 1993. Ibrahim Omer
Ibrahim Omer (born 1979/1980) is a New Zealand politician. He was a Member of Parliament for the Labour Party from 2020 to 2023. Early life Omer is a refugee from Eritrea. His mother language is Saho and he is a Muslim. He fled his home as a teenager to Sudan, where the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees became involved and referred his case on to third countries for resettlement. While in United Nations-run refugee camps in Sudan, Omer worked as an interpreter. This work led to suspicions of spying, and he was retained by authorities until the United Nations intervened.
