Cladochytriales
Cladochytriales is an order of chytrid fungi. It is the only order in the monotypic class Cladochytriomycetes. The order was described in 2009 to accommodate a monophyletic clade containing many genera of chytrid fungi often observed growing over decaying plant tissue and other cellulosic substrates from aquatic habitats and humid soils. Chytridiomycota
Chytridiomycota are a division of zoosporic organisms in the kingdom Fungi, informally known as chytrids. The name is derived from the Ancient Greek ('), meaning "little pot", describing the structure containing unreleased zoöspores. Chytrids are one of the early diverging fungal lineages, and their membership in kingdom Fungi is demonstrated with chitin cell walls, a posterior whiplash flagellum, absorptive nutrition, use of glycogen as an energy storage compound, and synthesis of lysine by the -amino adipic acid (AAA) pathway. Chytrids are saprobic, degrading refractory materials such as chitin and keratin, and sometimes act as parasites. Nowakowskiella
''Nowakowskiella'' is the sole genus of fungi in the family ''Nowakowskiellaceae''. The genus was circumscribed by German mycologist Joseph Schröter in 1897, while the family was originally circumscribed by Frederick Kroeber Sparrow in 1942, and then published validly in 2009. The genus name of ''Nowakowskiella'' is in honour of Leon Nowakowski (1847-1918), who was an Polish naturalist and botanist (Algology and Mycology) from Warsau. The genus was published in Nat. Pflanzenfam. (Engler & Prantl) vol.1 (Issue1) on pages 77, 82 and 134 in 1897. The Cladochytriaceae are a family of fungi in the order Cladochytriales. Taxonomy According to a 2008 estimate, the family contained 10 genera and 38 species. However, the 2022 taxonomy of fungi places only one genus, ''Cladochytrium'', making the family monotypic.
