Civil Police Of The Federal District
The Civil Police of the Federal District is the police force for the Federal District of Brazil, which contains the capital Brasilia. The Civil Police report to the Governor of the Federal District and is linked to the State Secretariat of Public Security. History In 1808, following the French invasion of European Portugal, the Portuguese Royal Family and Government transferred to Brazil and established Rio de Janeiro as the new capital of the Portuguese Empire. In Rio, the government established the General Intendency of the Police of the Court and of the State of Brazil, modelled after the similar body existing in Lisbon, as the central judiciary police organization. This organization was the forerunner of the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro. The Federal District ( pt, Distrito Federal ) is one of 27 federative units of Brazil. Located in the Center-West Region, it is the smallest Brazilian federal unit and the only one that has no municipalities, being divided into 31 administrative regions. Brasília
Brasília (; ) is the federal capital of Brazil and seat of government of the Federal District. The city is located at the top of the Brazilian highlands in the country's Central-West region. It was founded by President Juscelino Kubitschek on 21 April 1960, to serve as the new national capital. Brasília is estimated to be Brazil's third-most populous city. Among major Latin American cities, it has the highest GDP per capita. Brasília was a planned city developed by Lúcio Costa, Oscar Niemeyer and Joaquim Cardozo in 1956 in a scheme to move the capital from Rio de Janeiro to a more central location.
