City Of Bath Male Choir
The City of Bath Male Choir is a male voice choir from Bath, Somerset. They came to national prominence in the United Kingdom after finishing 5th in the BBC television show ''Last Choir Standing'' during July and August 2008.http://www.bbc.co.uk/lastchoirstanding/news/show_reviews/show7.html They have since performed with many other choirs, bands and celebrities in the UK and overseas, and have participated significantly in charity fundraising projects. Early career The amateur choir was formed in January 2006 by Grenville Jones. 15 singers attended the first rehearsal, and its first concert was held in the Bath Guildhall in November 2006. The choir then appeared at the 2007 Bath Showcase charity concert in front of an audience of 1,500 people, with guest appearances from jazz singers Clare Teal and Jamie Cullum. Bath Abbey
The Abbey Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, commonly known as Bath Abbey, is a parish church of the Church of England and former Benedictine monastery in Bath, Somerset, England. Founded in the 7th century, it was reorganised in the 10th century and rebuilt in the 12th and 16th centuries; major restoration work was carried out by Sir George Gilbert Scott in the 1860s. It is one of the largest examples of Perpendicular Gothic architecture in the West Country. The medieval abbey church served as a sometime cathedral of a bishop. After long contention between churchmen in Bath and Wells the seat of the Diocese of Bath and Wells was later consolidated at Wells Cathedral. The Benedictine community was dissolved in 1539 during the Dissolution of the Monasteries. The church architecture is cruciform in plan and can seat up to 1,200 patrons. Clive Stuart Anderson (born 10 December 1952) is an English television and radio presenter, comedy writer, and former barrister. Winner of a British Comedy Award in 1991, Anderson began experimenting with comedy and writing comedic scripts during his 15-year legal career, before starring in ''Whose Line Is It Anyway?'' on BBC Radio 4, then later Channel 4. Susan Hampshire, Lady Kulukundis, (born 12 May 1937) is an English actress known for her many television and film roles. The ACM Gospel Choir is a British gospel choir made up of students of the Academy of Contemporary Music. The group first came to public attention in the summer of 2008 when they gained 4th place in BBC One's Saturday night show ''Last Choir Standing''. Shortly after leaving the show the choir released their first album. History Formation and early years The choir was created by Mark De-Lisser and Nic Rowley at the Academy of Contemporary Music in 2005 as an extra-curricular activity. Morriston Orpheus Choir
The Morriston Orpheus Choir ( cy, Côr Orpheus Treforys, link=no), based in Morriston, near Swansea, Wales, is a male voice choir, one of the best-known in the UK. History The Choir was formed on April 23, 1935, by Ivor E. Sims and in its early days concentrated primarily on competitions and local concerts. In 1937, the Choir achieved its first success at the Royal National Eisteddfod in Machynlleth, going on to win at the "National" on six further occasions. The choir does not presently sing in competitions, preferring to concentrate on concert performances. Over the years, successive musical directors have developed and broadened the repertoire. Variety is now the hallmark of the Choir's performances which include arrangements by Alwyn Humphreys M.B.E., musical director from 1979 to January 2005 and now the Choir's Conductor Emeritus.
