The City of Albany is a local government area in the Great Southern region of Western Australia, about south-southeast of Perth, the capital of Western Australia. It covers an area of , including the Greater Albany metropolitan area and the Port of Albany, as well as the surrounding agricultural district and some national parks. The City of Albany had a population of over 36,000 at the 2016 census. History The Municipality of Albany was gazetted in 1871. It was initially headed by a chairman, with William Finlay becoming the first mayor in 1885. The Albany Road Board was gazetted in 1896. On 1 July 1961, they became respectively the Town of Albany and Shire of Albany councils following changes to the Local Government Act. The City of Albany was established on 1 July 1998 with the amalgamation of the Town of Albany and the Shire of Albany. On 1 July 1998, the two councils amalgamated to form the City of Albany. Collingwood Heights, Western Australia
Collingwood Heights is a north-eastern suburb of Albany, Western Australia, between the Albany city centre and Emu Point within the local government area of the City of Albany. It was gazetted in 1981, prior to which it was known as Collingwood. Geography Collingwood Heights is bounded by the Yakamia Creek Diversion to the north, Martin and Ulster Roads to the west and Collingwood Road to the southeast. Most of the suburb's population of 684 persons are concentrated around a small residential estate at Breaksea Park. The suburb was gazetted in 1981. Facilities Collingwood Heights is a small residential suburb located within a wider open area in the creek's catchment area. A B&B and an information bay are located in the suburb. Collingwood Heights contains a private school, Southlands Christian College, which was established in 1999 and teaches the ACE curriculum.

Centennial Park, Western Australia
Centennial Park is an inner suburb of Albany, Western Australia, immediately north of the CBD within the local government area of the City of Albany. It contains a light industrial area and numerous sporting facilities which serve the entire Albany catchment area. It was gazetted as a suburb in 1979. Bornholm, Western Australia
Bornholm is a small township in the Great Southern region of Western Australia located between Albany and Denmark on the Lower Denmark Road. Situated along the railway between Albany and Denmark, the town formed around the railway siding. The surrounding area has been allocated into many small farms with areas mostly between 30 and 100 acres.
