City Council Of Pontevedra
The City Council of Pontevedra (Galician language, Galician: ''Concello de Pontevedra''; Spanish language, Spanish: ''Ayuntamiento de Pontevedra'') is the top-tier administrative and governing body of the municipality of Pontevedra, Spain. The current Mayor of Pontevedra is Miguel Anxo Fernández Lores, in office since 4 July 1999. The City Council is composed by three bodies: the Mayor who leads the City Council; the executive branch, the Governing Council, composed by the Mayor and the councillors appointed by him; and the Plenary, a democratically elected assembly which represents the people of Pontevedra. The Mayor is elected by the members of the plenary among its members the day the new municipal corporation is formed after the local election. Principal Theatre (Pontevedra)
The Principal Theatre of Pontevedra (Teatro Principal de Pontevedra) is a theatre in the old town of Pontevedra (Spain). Location The Principal Theatre is located in the same block as the Liceo Casino, being adjacent to it. Its main façade faces Paio Gómez Charino Street and its side façades overlook Don Filiberto and Duque de Tetuán streets. History The site of the present Principal Theatre was occupied by the church of St Bartholomew the Elder until the mid-19th century. This late medieval building was in poor condition by the end of the 18th century. In 1769, demolition began, but it was finally demolished in 1844. After several years as an open square (Tetuán Square), in 1864 a Liceo Casino (work of Domingo Lareu) and the Principal Theatre (work of Faustino Flores), which belonged to the Liceo Casino, were built, inaugurated on 2 August 1878. José Rivas Fontán, (San Martín de Verducido, España on August 31, 1941), is a Spanish politician and teacher who was the Mayor of Pontevedra between 1979 and 1991. He withdrew from public activity in 2004 and is currently retired. Biography Family José Rivas Fontán was born on 31 August 1941 in San Martín de Verducido - Xeve, in the municipality and province of Pontevedra. He is the son of Paulino Rivas Maquieira and Elvira Fontán Fontán and was the youngest of three brothers. In 1965, he married Mª Gloria Lis Corral. The couple had four children. En Marea (translated in English as "In Tide") is a political party and former political alliance integrated by Podemos, Anova, United Left of Galicia, and some municipal alliances that participated in the 2015 Spanish local elections ( Marea Atlántica, Compostela Aberta, and Ferrol en Común).
