Citrus Pellets
Citrus pellets are an animal feed produced from byproducts of citrus processing. Use Used for feedstuff, especially for dairy cattle, fattened beef cattle and sheep. Processing They are produced from the peel, pulp and seeds of several species of citrus, dried, and processed with a binder (e.g., 1-3% of molasses, fat or colloidal clays), and extruded into pellets (typically 6 mm diameter; 2.5 cm max length).Summary from the Transport Information Service (TIS) from the German Insurance Association (GDV e.V.) - from the point of view of a material which is transported on container ships - http://www.tis-gdv.de/tis_e/ware/futter/pellets/citrus/citrus.htm See also * Compound feed * Fodder * Pellet mill A pellet mill, also known as a pellet press, is a type of mill or machine press used to create pellets from powdered material. Compound Feed
Animal feed is food given to domestic animals, especially livestock, in the course of animal husbandry. There are two basic types: fodder and forage. Used alone, the word ''feed'' more often refers to fodder. Animal feed is an important input to animal agriculture, and is frequently the main cost of the raising or keeping of animals. Farms typically try to reduce cost for this food, by growing their own, grazing animals, or supplementing expensive feeds with substitutes, such as food waste like spent grain from beer brewing. Animal wellbeing is highly dependent on feed that reflects a well balanced nutrition. Some modern agricultural practices, such as fattening cows on grains or in feed lots, have detrimental effects on the environment and animals. For example, increased corn or other grain in feed for cows, makes their microbiomes more acidic weakening their immune systems and making cows a more likely vector for E.coli. While other feeding practices can improve animal impact ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Fodder
Fodder (), also called provender (), is any agriculture, agricultural foodstuff used specifically to feed domesticated livestock, such as cattle, domestic rabbit, rabbits, sheep, horses, chickens and pigs. "Fodder" refers particularly to food given to the animals (including plants cut and carried to them), rather than that which they forage for themselves (called forage). Fodder includes hay, straw, silage, compressed and Compound feed, pelleted feeds, oils and mixed rations, and sprouting, sprouted grains and legumes (such as bean sprouts, fresh malt, or brewing#Brewer's spent grain, spent malt). Most animal feed is from plants, but some manufacturers add ingredients to processed feeds that are of animal origin. The worldwide animal feed trade produced tons of feed (compound feed equivalent) in 2011, fast approaching 1 billion tonnes according to the International Feed Industry Federation, with an annual growth rate of about 2%. The use of agricultural land to grow feed r ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Pellet Mill
A pellet mill, also known as a pellet press, is a type of mill or machine press used to create pellets from powdered material. Pellet mills are unlike grinding mills, in that they combine small materials into a larger, homogeneous mass, rather than break large materials into smaller pieces. Types There are many types of pellet mills that can be generally grouped into ''large-scale'' and ''small-scale'' types. According to the production capacity, pellet mills also can be divided into flat die pellet mill and ring die pellet mill. Large-scale There are two common types of large-scale pellet mills: ''flat die'' mills and ''ring die'' mills. Flat die mills use a flat die with slots. The powder is introduced to the top of the die and as the die rotates a roller presses the powder through the holes in the die. A cutter on the other side of the die cuts the exposed pellet free from the die. In the ring die there are radial slot throughout the die. Powder is fed into the inside of the ...
