Mount Ida Cities Service Filling Station
The Mount Ida Cities Service Filling Station is a historic automotive service station at 204 Whittington Street in Mount Ida, Arkansas. It is a small five-sided frame structure, finished in brick covered with stucco, with a hip roof that extends to form a canopy over the service area, with supporting brick piers at the far corners. Its front (under the canopy) has fixed four-pane windows flanking a center entrance. Built in 1925 by Cities Service, it was used as a gas station until 1966, and has since housed a variety of small businesses. Its role as a gas station was briefly resurrected in the film '' White River Kid'', which was shot here in 1998. Murfreesboro Cities Service Station
The Murfreesboro Cities Service Station is a historic automotive service station on Arkansas Highway 26, facing the northeast side of the town square in Murfreesboro, Arkansas. It is a simple single-story brick building with a cross-gable roof and modest English Revival styling. It was built in 1939 by A. P. Terrell, a local builder, using bricks from a building that had previously stood on the site. It was operated as a Cities Service (later Citgo) gas station into the 1980s, and was purchased by the Murfreesboro Community Foundation in 1989. The building plan for this structure is similar to that of other surviving Cities Service stations, including a station in Rison and another in Clinton. The station was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. Rison Cities Service Station
The Rison Cities Service Station is a historic automobile service station at Main and Magnolia Streets in Rison, Arkansas. It is a distinctive modest brick English Revival structure built in 1938. It has a cross-gable roof, in which there is a small oculus in each of the gables. The front facade has large plate glass windows flanking a central doorway. It was built and operated by the Arkansas Fuel and Oil Company, which operated it from 1938 to 1969 as a Cities Service station. Since then it has been seen various commercial uses. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. Avant's Cities Service Station
Avant's Cities Service Station is a historic service station located at 220 S. Choctaw in El Reno, Oklahoma. The Art Deco building was constructed in 1933 as a service station for Cities Service Company to fuel automobiles traveling on U.S. Route 66. The station was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004. History The station was constructed in 1933 to provide fuel to travelers on Route 66, which was designated in 1926 and marked through El Reno in 1927. It was built at the site of the Campbell Hotel, which was demolished to allow for the station's construction. The hotel had primarily catered to railroad travelers; as automobile travel rose in popularity, the hotel lost business and closed. Tom Avant managed the station on behalf of the Cities Service Company, which leased the station from A. D. Connelly, for its first years of operation. .
