The Velvet Club was founded in 1989 by Romano Cruciani and Gianluca Celidonius, after the closing of the theater "La Scaletta", because of the eviction suffered by the headquarters in Via del Collegio Romano, after 10 years in business. The first club's headquarters were at the abandoned buildings of the old Centrale del Latte of Rome, in Via Lamarmora 28, behind Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, in the rione Esquilino. In 1998, the Circolo degli Artisti, had to find a new venue due to the renovation of the premises of the "old" Centrale had to make way for the new covered market in Piazza Vittorio. It moved in the current space of Via Casilina Vecchia 42, where stood premises that in post-World War II had served as laundry and that at that time housed one "junkyard", typical activities of deposit/landfill and reuse of parts of vehicles engine and machinery in general, often present and hidden in the periphery or in marginal areas of the capital. Afterhours (band)
Afterhours is an Italian alternative rock band. The band was named after the Velvet Underground song of the same name. Biography The Afterhours were formed in 1985 in Milan around Manuel Agnelli, a Velvet Underground fan. They debuted in 1987 with the single ''My bit boy'', followed a year later by the EP ''All Good Children Go to Hell''. The band has released two albums and two EPs in English. Since ''Germi'' (1995), the group switched to Italian language, except for ''Ballads for Little Hyenas'', produced by Afghan Whigs leader Greg Dulli, who also played with the group in a 2006 tour in the United States. Afterhours also served as the Italian backing band to Greg Dulli and Mark Lanegan’s Gutter Twins project and Agnelli co-wrote two songs with Dulli on the Twilight Singers album Powder Burns. Fishbone
Fishbone is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1979, that plays a fusion of ska, punk, funk, metal, reggae, and soul. AllMusic has described the group as "one of the most distinctive and eclectic alternative rock bands of the late '80s. With their hyperactive, self-conscious diversity, goofy sense of humor, and sharp social commentary, the group gained a sizable cult following". Dinosaur Jr. is an American rock band formed in Amherst, Massachusetts, in 1984, originally simply called Dinosaur until legal issues forced a change in name. The band was founded by J Mascis (guitar, vocals, primary songwriter), Lou Barlow (bass, vocals), and Murph (drums). After three albums on independent labels, the band earned a reputation as one of the formative influences on American alternative rock. Creative tension led to Mascis firing Barlow, who later formed Sebadoh and Folk Implosion. His replacement, Mike Johnson, came aboard for three major-label albums. Digitalism are a German electronic music duo formed in Hamburg in 2004, consisting of Jens "Jence" Moelle and İsmail "Isi" Tüfekçi. The duo are signed to French label Kitsuné, as well as Virgin Records and Astralwerks in other parts of the world. Band history Formation, ''Idealism'' and ''I Love You Dude'' (2004–11) Moelle and Tüfekçi met at a record store in Hamburg and became friends. Later, the store's owner asked them to DJ a party, and they then began mixing and recording. According to Moelle, they record their music in a World War II bunker they own in Hamburg. Bush (British Band)
Bush are an English rock band formed in London, England in 1992. Their current lineup consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Gavin Rossdale, lead guitarist Chris Traynor, bassist Corey Britz, and drummer Nik Hughes. Joseph Will Oldham (born January 15, 1970) is an American singer-songwriter and actor. From 1993 to 1997, he performed and recorded in collaboration with dozens of other musicians under variations of Palace (Palace, Palace Flophouse, Palace Brothers, Palace Songs, and Palace Music). After briefly publishing music under his own name, in 1998 he adopted Bonnie "Prince" Billy as the name for most of his work. Stephen William Bragg (born 20 December 1957) is an English singer-songwriter and left-wing activist.
