Ciné Box, broadcast from September 2002 to 24 August 2004, is a former French television channel of AB Groupe devoted to cinema. History In 2002, a project for the revision of the cinema channels of AB Groupe was envisaged. The bouquet was to be called ''Cinétem'' and had to be composed of 6 channels: ''Ciné Art'', ''Ciné Box'' (replacing Ciné Palace), ''Ciné Comic'' (replacing ''Rire''), Ciné FX, Ciné Passion (replacing ''Romance'') and Ciné Polar (replacing ''Polar''). Finally, in September 2002, the new cinema bouquet was born and named ''Cinébox''. It consisted of 4 channels: Ciné Comic, Ciné Polar, Ciné FX and ''Ciné Box''. The last one is the portal chain of the cinema bouquet. Following the redesign of the cinema bouquet of CanalSatellite, named CinéCinéma, Ciné Art and Ciné Passion were not retained, judged too close to ''CinéCinéma Auteur'' and ''CinéCinéma Émotion''. 576i is a standard-definition television, standard-definition digital video mode, originally used for digitizing analog television in most countries of the world where the utility frequency for electric power distribution is 50 Hz. Because of its close association with the legacy color encoding systems, it is often referred to as PAL, PAL/SECAM or SECAM when compared to its 60 Hz (typically, see PAL-M) NTSC-colour-encoded counterpart, 480i. The ''576'' identifies a vertical resolution of 576 lines, and the ''i'' identifies it as an Interlaced video, interlaced resolution. AB Sat is a package of digital terrestrial television channels (encrypted with Viaccess and Mediaguard) offered by the satellite companies Hot Bird and Astra and marketed in France, Belgium, Switzerland and Germany. The channels are all (or partly) run by the cable operators and certain networks ADSL. ABSAT has a stake on two digital terrestrial television channels ( TMC and NT1). Canal+ is a French subscription provider associated to the channel of the same name. It is owned by Vivendi (owner of Canal+) with a hundred percent share. History In 1992, Canalsatellite was launched, the shareholders were Canal+ Group (66 percent) and Lagardère Active (34 percent), a subsidiary of Lagardère. Standard-definition Television
Standard-definition television (SDTV, SD, often shortened to standard definition) is a television system which uses a resolution that is not considered to be either high or enhanced definition. "Standard" refers to it being the prevailing specification for broadcast (and later, cable) television in the mid- to late-20th century, and compatible with legacy analog broadcast systems. The two common SDTV signal types are 576i, with 576 interlaced lines of resolution, derived from the European-developed PAL and SECAM systems, and 480i based on the American NTSC system. Common SDTV refresh rates are 25, 29.97 and 30 frames per second. Both systems use a 4:3 aspect ratio. Standards that support digital SDTV broadcast include DVB, ATSC, and ISDB.
