Cindy Walsh (born September 13, 1979) is a Canadian retired soccer player who played as a defender. She has been a member of the Canada women's national team. College career She attended the University of Hartford, playing for the NCAA Division 1 Hartford Hawks on a full athletic scholarship. She started 80 games, missing only 3 because of emergency surgery to remove a ruptured appendix in 2000. She was voted Rookie of the Year and named to the conference 1st team in 2000, 2001 and 2003 and named 2nd team in 2002. She had a career high of 11 assists and 7 goals in 2002, and played a variety of positions from defender, midfielder and striker. Club career Between 2001 and 2014 she competed in the now defunct semi-professional W-League, which was among the top leagues in North America. USL W-League (1995–2015)
The USL W-League was a North American amateur women's soccer developmental organization. The league was a semi-professional, open league, giving college players the opportunity to play alongside established international players while maintaining their collegiate eligibility. The league was administered by the United Soccer Leagues system (the USL), which also oversees the men's United Soccer League and Premier Development League. Amy Walsh
Amy Heather Walsh (born September 13, 1977) is a former midfielder for the Canada women's national soccer team. From 1997 to 2009, she played 102 matches for the national team. In May 2017, Walsh was inducted into the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame. Her sister, Cindy Walsh, also played for the Canadian women's team. Playing career Walsh attended the University of Nebraska, where she was twice named in the first team (All-Conference) and once in the first-team (All-Central Region). She played professionally for the Atlanta Beat of Women's United Soccer Association, and also played for the Montreal Xtreme and Laval Comets of the American W-League. Walsh played her last season in 2009. She gave birth to a child in January 2010. Since then she has not returned with the Laval Comets nor Canada's national team. Soccer Quebec (formerly (french: Fédération Québécoise de Soccer FQS) or the Quebec Soccer Federation (QSF)) is the governing body for soccer in the Canadian province of Quebec. The QSF is one of thirteen provincial and territorial federations members of the Canadian Soccer Association. It is headquartered in Laval.
