Ciaran Bonner
Ciaran Bonner is an Irish people, Irish former Gaelic footballer who played for Glenswilly GAA, Glenswilly and the Donegal county football team, Donegal county team. Playing career Club Bonner was part of the Glenswilly team that won its first Donegal Senior Football Championship in 2011 Donegal Senior Football Championship, 2011, with a 1–8 to 0–9 victory over St Michael's GAA (Donegal), St Michael's. He played in the 2007 final which Glenswilly lost. He later moved to the London GAA, London club Tír Chonaill Gaels. He also played for Donegal Boston. He scored a goal in the final of the 2013 Donegal Senior Football Championship following a deft flick of the heel from Michael Murphy (Gaelic footballer), Michael Murphy. Letterkenny
Letterkenny ( ga, Leitir Ceanainn , meaning 'hillside of the O'Cannons'), nicknamed 'the Cathedral Town', is the largest and most populous town in County Donegal, a county in Ulster, the northern province in Ireland. Letterkenny lies on the River Swilly in East Donegal in the north-west of Ulster, and has a population of 19,274. Ulster Senior Club Football Championship
The Ulster Senior Club Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition played between the top clubs in Ulster GAA. The trophy awarded to the winners is the Seamus McFerran Cup ( ga, Corn Shéamuis Mhic Fearáin). The winners and the Connacht, Leinster, Munster and London champions compete in the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. Glen are the current champions, having beaten Kilcoo in the 2022 final. Crossmaglen Rangers from Armagh have won the most titles with eleven wins. John Joe Doherty
John Joe Doherty (born 1968) is a former Irish Gaelic footballer and manager who played for Naomh Columba and the Donegal county team, later managing Donegal. Biography He won the 1987 All-Ireland Under-21 Football Championship with Donegal. He captained his club to the 1990 Donegal Senior Football Championship. Doherty, having recovered from a bone he broke while playing with his club, started against Armagh in the 1990 Ulster Senior Football Championship final, won by Donegal. He was a member of the Donegal team that won the county's first All-Ireland Senior Football Championship in 1992. The Laois county football team ( ) represents Laois in men's Gaelic football and is governed by Laois GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The ''Donegal News'' (also known as ''Derry People/Donegal News'' and formerly ''Derry People'') is a twice-weekly local newspaper in the northwest of the island of Ireland, first published in 1902. The 2007 National Football League was the Gaelic football league, contested by 32 GAA counties football teams, 31 from Ireland (as Kilkenny don't compete) and London from England. Due to the extended reshuffling of the structure for the 2008 campaign, survival in Divisions 1A and 1B, was much more precarious—with four relegation places in these divisions, the bottom two teams were relegated to Division 3, and the teams finishing in 5th place and 6th places were relegated to Division 2. 2007 Dr McKenna Cup
The 2007 Dr McKenna Cup was a Gaelic football competition played under the auspices of Ulster GAA. Summary Tyrone were eventually declared the winning team at official level, though the victory was tarnished by their choice of tactics. The team was at one point stripped of the cup for breaking the rules. They defeated Donegal in the final; however they did so in controversial circumstances while fielding ineligible players and midfielder Kevin Hughes was shown a red card. A month-long dispute over the player eligibility issue ensued, with the matter coming before the Ulster Council. Tyrone were allowed to keep the cup, even though they had earlier been deducted points for exactly the same offence, though not enough to prevent them from winning their group and eliminate them from the competition. Ulster Senior Football Championship
The Ulster Senior Football Championship is an inter-county competition for Gaelic football teams in the province of Ulster. It is organised by the Ulster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) and begins in early May. The final is usually played on the third Sunday in July. All nine Ulster counties participate. It is regarded as hardest to win of the four provincial football championships. At a referee conference in January 2015, David Coldrick said about officiating in the competition: "Ulster makes or breaks you. It can be a graveyard. The games are different.
