Cianjhen District
Cianjhen District () is a district in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. It covers an area of and is subdivided into 59 villiages. The District has a population is 180,828, as of May 2022. It is the fifth-most populated district in Kaohsiung, with a population density of 9,457 people per square kilometer, or 24,494 people per square mile. History On July 31, 2014, the 2014 Kaohsiung gas explosions occurred in the district and in nearby Lingya District. Kaisyuan Night Market
The Kaisyuan Night Market () is a night market in Cianjhen District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Together with the adjacent Jin-Zuan Night Market, they form the largest night market in Taiwan. History The night market was opened on 29 July 2013. Architecture The night market covers an area of 46,000m2 and consists of around 1,000 vendors and stalls. Features The market contains stalls selling items such as food, beer, clothes, and souvenirs. There are many places for children to play, such as playgrounds and swings. Transportation The night market is accessible by the free shuttle bus or by walking about 600 meters (200 feet) northeast from Exit 2 of the Kaisyuan Station of Kaohsiung MRT. The market is located directly across the road from the Kaisyuan Rueitian light rail station. Opening Hours The night market is open from 5PM until midnight, from Thursday to Sunday. Jin-Zuan Night Market
The Jin-Zuan Night Market () is a night market in Cianjhen District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Together with the adjacent Kaisyuan Night Market, they form the largest night market in Taiwan. History The night market was opened in July 2013. Features The night market is shaped into a large constellation for easy visitor navigation around the vendors. It covers an area of 30,000 m2 with over 500 of stalls offering a wide variety of Taiwanese food, drinks and goods. The parking lot offers spaces for 500 cars and 1,000 scooters. Transportation The night market is accessible within walking distance North East of Kaisyuan Station of Kaohsiung MRT. The night market also provides complementary shuttle bus service that runs every five minutes interval from the station to the market. Dream Mall (), located in Cianjhen District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, is the largest shopping mall in Taiwan and the 15th largest in East Asia (formerly the largest). Nanpu Power Plant
The Nanpu Power Plant () is a gas-fired power plant in Cianjhen District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. With the installed capacity of 1,118 MW, the plant is Taiwan's third largest gas-fired power plant after Tatan Power Plant and Tunghsiao Power Plant. Events 30 June 2003 The power plant Unit 4 began commercial operation after performance tests with a total capacity of 248 MW. 4 March 2010 Generators in two units of the plant tripped at 8:18 a.m following the 2010 Kaohsiung earthquakes. Awards The power plant won the 2006 Water Conservation Outstanding Performance Awards for its effort in implementing water saving at the plant, especially in the recycling and reusing of boiler drain water and waste water. Central Emergency Operation Center
The Central Emergency Operation Center (EMIC; ) is the emergency operations center of Taiwan which is activated in the event of emergency situation. The center is operated by the National Fire Agency of the Ministry of the Interior. Levels CEOC may be designated as a level-2 facility for lesser threats or as a level-1 facility for more severe threats. The Ocean Affairs Council () is the official governing body in Taiwan (Republic of China) under the Executive Yuan in charge of the planning, coordination and implementation of marine-related policies. History The Organization Act of the Ocean Affairs Council was formulated and promulgated on 1 July 2015. It was initially planned to be inaugurated in July 2016 but was delayed due to disagreements in the Legislative Yuan. The council was eventually inaugurated on 28 April 2018 by Premier William Lai. The Fisheries Agency (FA; ) is the agency of the Council of Agriculture of the Taiwan (ROC) responsible for all matters relating to fisheries. History In May 1998, the amendment of the Regulation for the Organization of the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan and the bill for the Regulation for the Organization of the Fisheries Agency, the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan were adopted by the Legislative Yuan and enacted by President Lee Teng-hui on 24 June 1998 for promulgation. The agency was then officially established on 1 August 1998.
