Chế Linh
Chế Linh ( cjm, Jamlen; b. 1942) is a Vietnamese popular singer, songwriter. An ethnic Cham, his stage name Chế Linh is a Vietnamese transcription of his Cham name, but, like many Cham people, he also has an official Vietnamese legal name, Lưu Văn Liên. Early life In 1958, when Che Linh was 16 years old, an event changed his life when President Ngo Dinh Diem had forbidden teaching of the Cham language in the Cham villages, a prestige language considered as a second language since the Bảo Đại’s era. This discrimination toward the minority group created conflicts between the Chams and the Kinh inhabitants. When the Chams came to town, they were stopped and being prosecuted heavily. Che Linh has been injured on several incidents, however. The government ignored these incidences and was not a bit concerned about it. Che Linh moving to Saigon was considered his first escape. Ngô Minh Hiếu (born 8 October 1989) is a Vietnamese cyber security specialist and a former hacker and identity thief. He was convicted in the United States of stealing hundreds of thousands of persons' personally identifiable information and in 2015 was sentenced to 13 years in U.S. federal prison. After his early release from prison in 2020, Hiếu returned to Vietnam and was recruited by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) under the Ministry of Information and Communications as a technical expert. Thái Thanh (born Phạm Thị Băng Thanh; August 5, 1934 – March 17, 2020) was a Vietnamese Americans, Vietnamese-American singer. She was one of the most iconic singers of the Western-influenced popular music in Vietnam, known as 'Popular music of Vietnam, New music of Vietnam' (). Early and family life Thái Thanh was born in 1934 in the village of Bạch Mai, Hanoi, in an artistic-traditioned family. Her father, Phạm Đình Phụng, had 2 wives - the first one gave birth to Phạm Đình Sỹ and Phạm Đình Viêm; the second one gave birth to Phạm Thị Quang Thái (Thái Hằng), Phạm Đình Chương, and Phạm Thị Băng Thanh. Thái Thanh started her career before the First Indochina War when she was 14 years old, without any formal music education.
