Château De Pommard
Château de Pommard is a winery in Pommard, Burgundy, France. Established in 1726, the property is known for its two Châteaux, gardens, and its 20 hectare walled vineyard, Clos Marey-Monge. The Châteaux, the vineyard and the winemaking facilities are operated and owned by Michael Baum (entrepreneur), Michael Baum, who purchased the estate in 2014. The winery produces "Clos" wines – Pinot Noir produced from the fruit of Clos Marey-Monge and "Family" wines – Cru (wine)#Grand cru, Grand Cru, Premier Cru, Village and Bourgogne wines from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir appellations across the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. In 2016, the estate tested Biodynamic agriculture, biodynamic methods on 2.5 hectares of vines, and stated the intention of being entirely biodynamic for the 2019 vintage. Pommard
Pommard () is a commune in the Côte-d'Or department and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of eastern France. Famous for its Côte de Beaune wine production, Pommard is situated directly south of Beaune along the Route des Grands Crus. The D973 runs through the village from Beaune and then on to Saisy and Autun. Population Wine Like Nuits-Saint-Georges, the name of Pommard was made famous as a marketplace for wines from better areas, in the days before Appellation Controlee. The fact that its name is easy for foreigners to pronounce also helped. 130,000 cases produced from 337 hectares makes it the second biggest area by production after Beaune. 135 hectares of that is Premier Cru, of which Les Epenots and Les Rugiens are the most notable. Pommard produces purely red wine - no whites.
