Chung Chan-seung
Chung Chan-seung ( Korean: 정찬승, Hanja: 鄭燦勝, 1942 – 1994), was a South Korean visual artist. He was also known as Chan S. Chung during his time in New York City. Early life and Education Chung was born in Seoul, Korea. He studied art in Hongik University’s Department of Western Painting. In 1964, while he was still a student, Chung and some of his classmates formed the artist collective Non Col (논꼴, also romanized as ''Nonggol''). Chung (Korean Name)
Jeong is a Latin alphabet rendition of the Korean family name "정", also often spelled Chung, Jung, Joung or Jong. As of the South Korean census of 2015, there were 2,407,601 people by this name in South Korea or 4.84% of the population. The Korean family name "정" is mainly derived from three homophonous hanja. Park Chung Hee
Park Chung-hee (, ; 14 November 1917 – 26 October 1979) was a South Korean politician and army general who served as the dictator of South Korea from 1961 until his assassination in 1979; ruling as an unelected military strongman from 1961 to 1963, then as the third President of South Korea from 1963 to 1979. Before his presidency, he was the second-highest ranking officer in the South Korean army and came to power after leading a military coup in 1961, which brought an end to the interim government of the Second Republic. After serving for two years as chairman of the military junta, he was elected president in 1963, ushering in the Third Republic. Ha Chong Hyun (하종현, also frequently romanized as Ha Chong-hyun; born 1935 in Sancheong, Gyeongnam province, Korea) is a South Korean artist. Cho Yong-ik
Cho Yong-ik (born 1934) is a South Korean artist. He was a leading figure in Korean abstract painting along with Kim Tschang Yeul, Park Seo-bo and Chung Sang-Hwa. He majored in art from Seoul National University and attended the Paris Biennale in 1961 and 1969 as one of Korea's delegates. Park Seo-bo
Park Seo-bo ( ko, 박서보; b. 1931 in Yecheon, Korea) is a Korean painter, part of the first generation of modern artists in South Korea. He has been a prolific painter well known for his french: Ecriture paintings, and has been one of the most influential figures in modern Korean art history. He is now widely considered the godfather of Dansaekhwa originated in South Korea in 1970s. Tchah-Sup Kim
Tchah-Sup Kim ( Korean: 김차섭, Hanja: 金次燮, 10 June 1940 – 28 August 2022) was a Korean painter and printmaker. In 1990, Kim and his partner and artist Myong Hi Kim (1949–) bought an abandoned school building near Chuncheon, Gangwon Province in South Korea, as their studio space. Since then, the couple has worked between Korea and the US. Early life Kim was born in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan, while his father worked on, most likely managed, the construction of an airfield for the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force near Nagoya. Sung-ho Choi
Sung Ho Choi (Korean: 최성호, born 1954 in Seoul, Korea) is a Korean American mixed media artist based in Bergen County, New Jersey. He was awarded a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree by Hongik University in 1980, moving to the United States a year later. In 1984 he was awarded his Master of Fine Arts from the Pratt Institute. In 1990, he founded the SEORO Korean Cultural Network, a Korean American artists collective, and in 1996 was commissioned by Percent for Art to create an installation work.
