Chukwuemeka Onwuamaegbu
Chukwuemeka "Emeka" Osita Onwuamaegbu (born 1959) is a retired Nigerian Army major general who served as the 25th commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy from 2010 to 2013. Early life Major General Onwuamaegbu is the son of Obumneme G. Onwuamaegbu, who was the attorney general of East Central State and the nephew of journalist Joseph Egemonye. Military career He was admitted to the Nigerian Defence Academy on 3 January 1977 as a member of the 21st Regular Combatant Course where he was coursemates with officers such as Alex Sabundu Badeh and Babagana Monguno. Major-general (Nigeria)
Major general (abbreviated MG, maj. gen. and similar) is a military rank used in many countries. It is derived from the older rank of sergeant major general. The disappearance of the "sergeant" in the title explains the apparent confusion of a lieutenant general outranking a major general, whereas a major outranks a lieutenant. In the Commonwealth and in the United States, when appointed to a field command, a major general is typically in command of a division consisting of around 6,000 to 25,000 troops (several regiments or brigades). It is a two-star rank that is subordinate to the rank of lieutenant general and senior to the rank of brigadier or brigadier general. Nigerian Defence Academy
The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) is a military university based in Kaduna, Nigeria that trains officer cadets for commissioning into one of the three services of the Nigerian Armed Forces: the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force. The duration of training at the Nigerian Defence Academy is five years (four years academic and one year military). History The NDA was established in February 1964 as a reformation of the British run ''Royal Military Forces Training College'' (RMFTC), which had been renamed the Nigerian Military Training College (NMTC) on independence. The military institution trains the officer corps of the Nigerian Army, Navy and Air Force. The initial class had only 62 cadets, and the trainers were mostly officers in the Indian Army. Muhammad Inuwa Idris (born 1960) is a retired Nigerian Army major general who served as the 26th Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA). He was appointed Commandant on 26 December 2013 and succeeded as Commandant by Major General M.T. Ibrahim on 9 August 2015. Joseph N. C. Egemonye (1933–2011) was a Nigerian journalist, writer, politician and businessman. Alex Sabundu Badeh (7 November 1957 – 18 December 2018) was an officer of the Nigerian Air Force who served as the 18th Chief of Air Staff and the 15th Chief of Defence Staff of Nigeria. He died from gunshot injuries sustained after his vehicle was attacked by unknown gunmen along Abuja-Keffi road on Tuesday, 18 December 2018. Mohammed Babagana Monguno (born 1957) is a Nigerian retired military general and current National Security Adviser. He was the Chief of Defence Intelligence from July 2009 to September 2011; and the Commander of the Brigade of Guards from 2007 to 2009.
