Charles Montgomery (writer)
Charles Montgomery (born 1968 in North Vancouver, British Columbia) is a Canadian writer and urbanist. Primarily known for his books '' The Last Heathen'' (2004) and '' Happy City'' (2013), Montgomery has advised and lectured planners, students, and decision-makers across Canada, the US and England. Using insights from psychology, behavioral economics, architecture and city planning, Montgomery has worked with the BMW Guggenheim Lab and the Museum of Vancouver on social experiments that help citizens transform their relationships with each other and their cities. Montgomery graduated from the University of Victoria in 1991 with a degree in geography. Buddy Montgomery
Charles "Buddy" Montgomery (January 30, 1930 – May 14, 2009) was an American jazz vibraphonist and pianist. He was the younger brother of Wes and Monk Montgomery, a guitarist and bassist respectively. Buddy and brother Monk formed The Mastersounds in the late 1950s and produced ten recordings. When The Mastersounds disbanded, Monk and Buddy joined their brother Wes on a number of Montgomery Brothers recordings, which were mostly arranged by Buddy. They toured together in 1968, and it was in the middle of that tour that Wes died. Buddy continued to compose, arrange, perform, produce, teach and record, producing nine recordings as a leader. Biography Buddy first played professionally in 1948; in 1949 he played with Big Joe Turner and soon afterwards with Slide Hampton. After a period in the Army, where he had his own quartet, he joined The Mastersounds as a vibraphonist with his brother Monk, pianist Richie Crabtree and drummer Benny Barth in 1957. Vice Admiral Sir Charles Percival Ross Montgomery (born 12 April 1955) is a retired Royal Navy officer who served as Second Sea Lord from 2010 to 2012. He then served as Director General of the Border Force from 2013 to 2017. Early life Montgomery was born in 1955. He was educated at Uppingham School and the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth. He attended Sheffield University, graduating in 1976 with a degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering. Military career Montgomery joined the Royal Navy in 1973. After spending his first three years of service at university, he went to sea and rose through the officer ranks to become Commander of . Charlie Montgomery
Charles Montgomery (1924–1995) was an Australian rugby league footballer who played in the 1940s. He was a premiership winning prop-forward with St George and finished his career with Newtown. Playing career 'Chassa' Montgomery played two seasons with St George Dragons between 1941 and 1942, and played in the front-row in their victorious 1941 Grand Final. He then moved to Newtown, where he played another two seasons between 1944 and 1945. He made another Grand Final appearance at prop-forward in the Newtown side that lost the 1944 Grand Final to Balmain. Both sides had been accused of "dogging-it" in the Final where they met, and allowing Balmain to win so that they would need to meet in a Grand Final a week later. Chuck Biscuits
Chuck Biscuits (born Charles Montgomery on April 17, 1965) is a Canadian drummer best known for his work in several punk rock bands. Biscuits was a member of D.O.A. from 1978 to 1982, playing on the band's first two albums before briefly joining Black Flag and later Circle Jerks. He later joined Danzig in 1987, playing on the band's first four albums as well as their first EP before leaving in 1994. Most recently, he played in Social Distortion from 1996 to 1999. Career Biscuits has named his main influences as John Bonham, Rat Scabies of the Damned, Topper Headon of the Clash, Keith Moon and Stewart Copeland. Hubert Montgomery
Sir Charles Hubert Montgomery (24 August 1876 – 2 December 1942) was a British civil servant and diplomat. Montgomery was the fifth son of the politician Hugh Montgomery and was born at Blessingbourne House, near Fivemiletown, County Tyrone, Ireland. He was educated at Charterhouse School and in 1900 joined the Foreign Office as a clerk. From 1904 to 1907 he served as Private Secretary to the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, and from 1907 to 1910 he was précis writer to the Foreign Secretary, with a brief interlude in 1908 when he served as Assistant Private Secretary to Prime Minister Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman.
