Mario Gilberto Agustin Martinez Solares (January 19, 1906 – January 18, 1997) was a Mexican director, cinematographer, screenwriter, and actor who is considered one of the most prolific filmmakers in Mexican cinema having directed more than 160 films, most of them written by him during the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. He is also recognized as the most important comedy director in Mexico. Life and career Gilberto Martínez Solares was born on January 19, 1906, in Mexico City. His father, Gilberto Martínez Medina, was an accountant that worked for the Madero government. In 1910, the Mexican Revolution broke out, and, as a result of the expanding violent environment in Mexico City, the Martínez-Solares family moved near Pénjamo, Guanajuato to the Hacienda de la Calle in 1913. Early life Yolanda Yvonne Montes Farrington, was born in Spokane, Washington, United States, on January 3, 1932. Her father, Elmer Sven Móntes, descended from a Spanish father and a Swedish mother. Her mother, Edna Pearl Farrington, of English father and French mother. Her maternal grandmother, Molly (Maeva), was from Tahiti. Alfredo Vergara Morales (13 April 1915 – 18 April 1987), best known by the stage name Eduardo Alcaraz, was a Chilean-Mexican actor. Born in Santiago, he was based in Mexico since 1951. He appeared in films such as '' Escuela de rateros'' (1958) alongside Pedro Infante. He also worked as voice actor in many movies and cartoons. In 1949, while working at Radio Quito in Ecuador, he participated in an adaptation of ''The War of the Worlds'', similar to how Orson Welles had done a decade earlier in the United States. Alcaraz was in charge of the script of this new version, which like Welles's version represented the events narrated as if it were a true transmission. When it was revealed that it was a fictional story, a crowd made their way to the '' El Comercio'' newspaper building, where the radio worked, and set it on fire. Six people died.
