Chrysis (priestess)
Chrysis (or Chryseis, grc, Χρυσίς or ) was the priestess of Hera at the ancient Greek sanctuary of Hera at Argos at the time of the Peloponesian War. She is known for having inadvertently caused a fire that led to the destruction of the temple. Thucydides mentions in book 2 of his history of the Peloponesian War that at the outbreak of the war, in 431 BC, Chrysis was in the 48th year of her tenure as head priestess of Argos. The burning of the temple, in the summer of 423 BC, is mentioned in book 4 of the same work. According to Thucydides, Chrysis placed a light near a curtain and then fell asleep. She survived the fire and fled from Argos to the nearby city of Phlius. According to Pausanias, her flight led her to Tegea, where she found asylum at the sanctuary of Athena Alea. Pausanias also mentions that in his time a statue of Chrysis still stood at Argos. ''Samia'' ( grc-gre, Σαμία), translated as ''The Girl From Samos'', or ''The Marriage Connection'', is an ancient Greek comedy by Menander, it is the dramatist's second most extant play with up to 116 lines missing compared to ''Dyskolos''’s 39. The date of its first performance is unknown, with 315 B.C. and 309 B.C. being two suggested dates. The surviving text of ''Samia'' comes from the Cairo Codex found in 1907 and the Bodmer Papyri from 1952. Plot ''Samia'' takes place in a street in Athens, outside the houses of Demeas, a wealthy bachelor, and Nikeratos, his less wealthy business partner. Prior to the events in the play Demeas had taken in a Samian girl, Chrysis, as his mistress despite misgivings. Chrysis becomes pregnant and was under orders from Demeas to dispose of the illegitimate child. ''Andria'' (English: ''The Woman from Andros'') is a Roman comedy adapted by Terence from two Greek plays by Menander the first being '' Samia'' and the other being ''Perinthia''. It was the first play by Terence to be presented publicly, and was performed in 166 BC during the Ludi Megalenses. It became the first of Terence's plays to be performed post- antiquity, in Florence in 1476. It was adapted by Machiavelli, whose ''Andria'' was likewise the author's first venture into playwriting and was the first of Terence's plays to be translated into English ca. 1520. Demetrius I Of Macedon
Demetrius I (; grc, Δημήτριος; 337–283 BC), also called Poliorcetes (; el, Πολιορκητής, "The Besieger"), was a Macedonian nobleman, military leader, and king of Macedon (294–288 BC). He belonged to the Antigonid dynasty and was its first member to rule Macedonia. He was the son of Antigonus I Monophthalmus and Stratonice. ''Crysis'' is a first-person shooter video game series created by Crytek. The series revolves around a group of military protagonists with " nanosuits", technologically advanced suits of armor that give them enhanced physical strength, speed, defense, and cloaking abilities. The protagonists face off against hostile North Korean soldiers, heavily armed mercenaries, and a race of technologically advanced aliens known as the Ceph, who arrived on Earth millions of years ago and have recently been awakened.
