Chrono Break
''Chrono Break'' is a cancelled third mainline entry in the ''Chrono'' series of video games by Square. While never officially announced by the company, commentary from ''Chrono'' series developers Masato Kato, Hironobu Sakaguchi, and Takashi Tokita have confirmed early plans for the game, alongside a number of trademarks filed in the game's name. However, the game would ultimately go unproduced, with many members of the internal development team either moving on to '' Final Fantasy XI'' or leaving the company in favor of freelance work. The game elicited much commentary from the company and the video game press in the following years, though as of 2021, all trademarks had expired, with no announced plans to work on the game. History Registration The initial ''Chrono Break'' trademark for a video game was registered by Square (now Square Enix) in the United States on December 5, 2001. Square (video Game Company)
(also known under its American brand name SquareSoft) was a Japanese video game development studio and publisher. It was founded in 1986 by Masafumi Miyamoto, who spun off part of his father's electronics company Den-Yu-Sha. Among its early employees were Hironobu Sakaguchi, Hiromichi Tanaka, Akitoshi Kawazu, Koichi Ishii, Kazuko Shibuya, Nasir Gebelli and Nobuo Uematsu. After several other projects, all of these employees would work on ''Final Fantasy'', a 1987 game for the Nintendo Entertainment System which would bring commercial and critical success and launch a franchise of the same name. was a Japanese multinational corporation, multinational video game and entertainment company, headquartered in Ōta, Tokyo. ''Final Fantasy Dimensions II'', also known as in Japan, is a free-to-play game developed by Matrix Software and published by Square Enix for Android and iOS devices. It is the second game released in Japan with the "Final Fantasy Legends" title after ''Final Fantasy Legends: Hikari to Yami no Senshi'' (which was localized worldwide under the name ''Final Fantasy Dimensions''). It revolves around traveling through time in order to save the world from a god. It was later re-branded on November 2, 2016, as ''Final Fantasy Legends II'' in Japan. PAX (originally known as Penny Arcade Expo) is a series of gaming culture festivals involving tabletop, arcade, and video gaming. Yasunori Mitsuda
is a Japanese composer, musician, and sound producer. He is best known for his work in video games, primarily for the ''Chrono'', ''Xeno'', '' Shadow Hearts'', and '' Inazuma Eleven'' franchises, among various others. Mitsuda began composing music for his own games in high school, later attending a music college in Tokyo. While still a student, he was granted an intern position at the game development studio Wolf Team. Mitsuda joined Square upon graduation in 1992 and worked there as a sound effects designer for two years before telling Square's vice president Hironobu Sakaguchi he would quit unless he could write music for their games. Hiromichi Tanaka
is a Japanese video game developer, game producer, game director and game designer. He was Senior Vice President of Software Development at Square Enix (formerly Square) and the head of the company's Product Development Division-3. Biography In 1983, Tanaka dropped out of Yokohama National University along with Hironobu Sakaguchi to join Square, a newly formed software branch of the Denyuusha Electric Company. Along with Sakaguchi and Kazuhiko Aoki, Tanaka was part of Square's original Planning and Development department.
