Christy Williams
Christy Williams (born 14 August 1980), is an international women's motorcycle trials rider. Williams is a four time Canadian Women's Trials Champion and ten time American NATC Women's Trials Champion. Biography Williams was born in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada. In 1999 Williams headed over the border into the United States to compete in the NATC Women's Trials Championship . She won the 1999 series ahead of American rider Pam DeBruin then returned to defend her title in 2000 and 2001, both years winning ahead of her sister Kerry Williams. They repeated their one-two combination again in 2003 and 2004, then Christy won in 2005 ahead of Louise Forsley. Williams returned to take three more titles in 2008 until 2010. In August 2017 Williams announced her retirement from national competition after 20 years, though she still plans on competing back home in Canada. Motorcycle Trial
Motorcycle trials, also known as observed trials, often called simply trial/s (with or without the plural "s"), is a non-speed event on specialized motorcycles. The sport is most popular in the United Kingdom and Spain, though there are participants around the globe. Modern trials motorcycles are distinctive in that they have evolved to become extremely lightweight, lack seating (they are designed to be ridden standing up) and have suspension travel that is short, relative to a motocross or enduro motorcycle. Motorcycle trials is often utilized by competitors in other motorcycle sports (such as enduro, motocross or road racers) as a way to Cross-training, cross-train, as trials requires fine throttle, balance, and machine control. New Westminster (colloquially known as New West) is a city in the Lower Mainland region of British Columbia, Canada, and a member municipality of the Metro Vancouver Regional District. Kerry Williams (Motorcycle Trials Rider)
Kerry Williams (born 7 September 1977 in Edmondson, Canada), is a Canadian former women's International motorcycle trials rider. Williams is a three time US NATC Trials National Champion, winning the title in 2002, 2006 and 2007. Biography Williams competed in both Canada and the United States throughout her career. In 2000 she was runner-up to her sister Christy Williams in the American NATC Women's Trials Championship, winning the final two rounds. 2000 was also the first year that a women's championship was added to the annual Trial des Nations event, this year held in Spain. Kerry and Christy competed as the Canadian team finishing a creditable 5th. Williams also picked up a 10th place finish in the FIM Women's Trials Championship in Spain. 2001 saw a repeat performance with another second place finish in the NATC Women's Championship behind her sister, also second place in the Canadian Women's Championship again behind Christy. Louise Forsley
Louise Forsley (born 7 June 1990 in Greenfield, Massachusetts, United States) is an International Women's motorcycle trials rider. Forsley rode the US NATC National Championships and the FIM World Trials Championships. Forsley is a two time Women's National Champion. Louise competed in the 2012 Xgames in Los Angeles, California and took home the silver medal. Biography Forsley grew up in Bernardston, Massachusetts. She finished third in the 2004 US NATC Women's Trials Championship behind the Canadian Gas Gas duo of Christy Williams and Kerry Williams. She was selected as part of the US Trial des Nations team and traveled to Spain along with Nicole Bradford and Debbie Evans Leavitt. The team finished 8th. In 2005, she went one better with a runner-up position behind Christy Williams. Once more Forsley was selected for the US Women's Trial des Nations team, this time the event was held in Italy. Gas Gas
Gas Gas is a Spanish motorcycle manufacturer established in 1985 by Narcìs Casas and Josep Pibernat in Salt, Girona. The company specializes in off-road motorcycles for trials and enduro competitions. Gas Gas was purchased by KTM motorcycles in 2019. After the sale to KTM, Gas Gas's off-road models were purchased by Spanish motorcycle manufacturer Rieju. Company history In 1973, Narcìs Casas and Josep Pibernat began operating a Bultaco motorcycle franchise in Salt. With the financial demise of the Bultaco factory in 1979, Casas and Pibernat began importing Italian SWM motorcycles until 1984 when, the manufacturer ceased operations. Casas and Pibernat then embarked on a programme to manufacture trial motorbikes for sale in their shop. Montesa Honda
Montesa Honda is a subsidiary business of Honda, which assembles several models of motorcycles and bicycles in Barcelona, Spain. It was formed in 1944 by Pere Permanyer and Francesc Xavier "Paco" Bultó. The business was Spanish-owned until entering into an association with Honda. Permanyer and Bultó Their first Montesa prototype was based upon the French Motobécane models of that time. Permanyer began to produce his own gas engines, which allowed for a new area in motorcycles to be explored and expanded into. Permanyer and Bultó teamed up in Barcelona and created a light-weight motorcycle. This led to the creation of a bike powered by a 95cc two-stroke engine with no sprung rear suspension. FIM Trial European Championship
The FIM Trials European Championship is organised by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme and has been held since 1992. The championship gives up and coming riders a chance to compete at international level against top class riders, many who have progressed to become champions in the FIM Trial World Championship such as current champion Toni Bou and past champions Dougie Lampkin and Adam Raga History The Inaugural championship was held in 1992 with a single class format. In 1999 a women's class was added in part due to the addition of a women's class In the FIM Trial World Championship series the previous year. In 2004 a European Junior class was added, with many riders starting in the junior class before progressing through to the Pro class main series.
