Christopher Saunders
Christopher Alan Saunders (born 15 January 1950) is an Australian prelate of the Catholic Church who served as the bishop of Broome from 1996 to 2021, when he resigned amid allegations of sexual misconduct. He was not charged with any crimes due to lack of evidence. Life and career Christopher Saunders was born on 15 January 1950. He studied at St. Bede's College in Mentone, Victoria, and then studied philosophy for three years with the Columbians. Having developed an interest in Aboriginal affairs, he was accepted by the Diocese of Broome and continued his studies in theology at St Francis Xavier Seminary in Adelaide. He worked as a deacon in Broome in 1975 and was ordained a priest of that diocese on 28 August 1976. His assignments took him to La Grange Mission (1976–1978), Lombadina Mission (1978–1982) and Kalumburu Mission (1982–1988). The Most Reverend
The Most Reverend is a style applied to certain religious figures, primarily within the historic denominations of Christianity, but occasionally in some more modern traditions also. It is a variant of the more common style "The Reverend". Lombadina, Western Australia
Lombadina is a medium-sized Aboriginal community on the north-western coast of Western Australia on Cape Leveque, north of Broome in the Kimberley region. The name is derived from the Aboriginal word, "Lollmardinard". The community is inhabited by the Bardi people. Lombadina is part of a single urban area that incorporates Djarindjin and Lombadina. At the 2016 Census, this single urban area had a total population of 397, including 312 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The Catholic mission was established with the help of Thomas Puertollano, a Filipino from Manila, in 191011. Peter William Ingham (born 19 January 1941) is an Australian bishop. He was the fourth Roman Catholic bishop of the Diocese of Wollongong, serving from 2001 to 2018. From March 2020 until Dec 2020, he served as apostolic administrator of the Diocese of Broome. Early years Ingram was born in Crows Nest, New South Wales, to George and Marjorie (née Hyndes) Ingham.
