Christopher R. Johnson
Christopher Ray Johnson (born January 17, 1960, in Kansas City, Kansas) is an American computer scientist. He is a distinguished professor of computer science at the University of Utah, and founding director of the Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute (SCI). His research interests are in the areas of scientific computing and scientific visualization. Biography Johnson received his BS in physics in 1982 from the Wright State University, and his MS in physics in 1984, and his PhD in medical biophysics in 1990, both from the University of Utah, in Salt Lake City. From 1985 to 1989, Johnson was an assistant professor of physics at Westminster College (Utah). In 1990, Johnson joined the University of Utah, first as a research assistant professor of internal medicine at the Nora Eccles Harrison Cardiovascular Research and Training Institute (CVRTI) and has held faculty positions in the departments of mathematics, bioengineering, physics, and computer science. Sidney Fernbach Award
The Sidney Fernbach Award established in 1992 by the IEEE Computer Society, in memory of Sidney Fernbach, one of the pioneers in the development and application of high performance computers for the solution of large computational problems as the Division Chief for the Computation Division at Lawrence Livermore Laboratory from the late 1950s through the 1970s.
