Christopher Martin (born July 10, 1962) is an American rapper and actor, who is the latter half of the late 1980s/early 1990s hip-hop/comedy duo Kid 'n Play. Career Martin's stage name, Play, is derived from his original MC name, Playboy, which he began using while in a music group, Quicksilver and the Super Lovers, which featured producer Hurby Luv Bug. While performing with this group, Martin met Christopher Reid, who performed as Kid Coolout in the group The Turnout Brothers. When their respective groups dissolved, Martin and Reid decided to perform as a duo. By shortening their nicknames, it would lead to the start of the group Kid 'n Play which featured the pair rapping and dancing together. With Kid, Play recorded three albums and starred in five hip-hop based comedy films: ''House Party'', ''House Party 2'', ''Class Act'', ''House Party 3'', and ''House Party: Tonight’s the Night''. Christopher Oteng Martin (born 14 February 1987) is a reggae/dancehall singer and songwriter from St. Catherine, Jamaica. Martin won Digicel's ''Rising Stars'' in 2005 (the Jamaican version of ''American Idol'') and is best known for the songs "Cheaters Prayer", "I'm a big deal" "Let her go", "Is it love" "Dreams of brighter days" . Christopher Martin is an American trumpet player who was named the principal trumpet of the New York Philharmonic in May 2016 and began his tenure there in September 2016. He has also served as Principal trumpet of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (2005-2017) and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (2000-2005), and as Associate Principal of the Philadelphia Orchestra (1997-2000). He has also performed with High Bridge Brass, an American conical brass quintet, since its founding in June 2018. Christopher Dennis Alexander Martin-Jenkins, MBE (20 January 1945 – 1 January 2013), also known as CMJ, was a British cricket journalist and a President of MCC. He was also the longest serving commentator for ''Test Match Special'' (TMS) on BBC Radio, from 1973 until diagnosed with terminal cancer in January 2012. Early life Christopher Martin-Jenkins was born at his grandmother's house in Peterborough, the second of three boys. His father, a lieutenant colonel in the army at the time, relocated the family to Glasgow where he was stationed.
