Christopher High School is a co-educational public school in Gilroy, California Gilroy is a city in Northern California's Santa Clara County, south of Morgan Hill and north of San Benito County. It is one of two public comprehensive high schools in the city and has an approximate enrollment of 1,900 students. It is a part of the Gilroy Unified School District. The school is named for the Christopher family, owner of the Christopher Ranch, a local garlic farm that is one of the largest employers in Gilroy. Christopher donated 10 acres of land and started an endowment for the school with an initial investment of $75,000. Gilroy Unified School District
Gilroy Unified School District is located in the southernmost tip of Santa Clara Valley, California. The Gilroy Unified School District was created in 1966 when several small school districts joined together with the Gilroy School District. The other school districts included San Ysidro and Rucker. It covers an area of over 600 square miles, and during the 2012–2013 school year had approximately 11,000 students. The school district currently consists of four high schools (Gilroy High School, Christopher High School, Gilroy Early College Academy, and Mt. Madonna Continuation High School), three middle schools (Brownell, Solorsano, and South Valley), and eight elementary schools (Antonio Del Buono, El Roble, Eliot, Glen View, Las Animas, Luigi Aprea, Rod Kelley, and Rucker). Gilroy, California
Gilroy is a city in Northern California's Santa Clara County, south of Morgan Hill and north of San Benito County. Gilroy is the southernmost city in the San Francisco Bay Area, with a population of 56,766 as of the 2019 U.S. Census Projections. Gilroy's origins lie in the village of San Ysidro that grew in the early 19th century out of Rancho San Ysidro, granted to Californio ranchero Ygnacio Ortega in 1809. Following Ygnacio's death in 1833, his daughter Clara Ortega de Gilroy and son-in-law John Gilroy inherited the largest portion of the rancho and began developing the settlement. When the town was incorporated in 1868, it was renamed in honor of John Gilroy, a Scotsman who had emigrated to California in 1814, naturalized as a Mexican citizen, adopted the Spanish language, and converted to Catholicism, taking the name of Juan Bautista Gilroy. Hollister High School (HHS) is a school in Hollister, California, United States. It serves as the primary high school for Hollister city residents and most county residents and is within the San Benito High School District. The school's enrollment is approximately 3,400 students, served by 250 faculty and staff. History The San Juan school district was created in 1852, and split off the Hollister school district in 1869. High school education in Hollister began in 1875 alongside the grammar school located at First Street and San Benito Street.
