Christopher Brinchmann
Christopher Brinchmann (1 April 1864 – 26 February 1940) was a Norwegian archivist, literary historian and critic. He was born at Leka, Norway, Leka in Nord-Trøndelag, Norway. He worked in the National Archival Services of Norway (''Riksarkivet'') from 1896, and was deputy director from 1922 to 1934. He was among the publishers of ''Diplomatarium Norvegicum''. Among his own works were ''Nationalforskeren P. A. Munch; hans liv og virke'' (1910), ''Grønlands overgang til Danmark'' (1922), ''Norske kongesigiller'' (1924) and ''Norges arkivsaker i Danmark'' (1927). He also edited the periodical ''Kringsjaa'', from 1898 to 1907. Leka, Norway
Leka is a municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is part of the Namdalen region. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Leknes on the island of Leka. Other villages in Leka include Sør-Gutvika and Madsøygrenda. The island municipality includes all of the island of Leka and part of the island of Austra as well as hundreds of smaller surrounding islands and skerries. Primarily a fishing and farming community, Leka is the northernmost municipality in Trøndelag county. The island of Leka has been inhabited for at least 10,000 years, as evidenced by cave drawings in the Solsem section of the island. The municipality is the 325th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Leka is the 348th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 570. Nord-Trøndelag
Nord-Trøndelag (; "North Trøndelag") was a county constituting the northern part of the present-day Trøndelag county in Norway. The county was established in 1804 when the old Trondhjems amt was divided into two: Nordre Trondhjems amt and Søndre Trondhjems amt. In 2016, the two county councils voted to merge (back) into a single county on 1 January 2018. As of 1 January 2014, the county had 135,142 inhabitants, making it the country's fourth-least populated county. The largest municipalities are Stjørdal, Steinkjer—the county seat, Levanger, Namsos, and Verdal, all with between 24,000 and 12,000 inhabitants. The National Archival Services of Norway ( no, Arkivverket) is a Norwegian government agency that is responsible for keeping state archives, conducts control of public archiving and works to preserve private archives. It is subordinate to the Ministry of Culture and Church Affairs and consists of the National Archive (), eight regional state archives () and The Sámi Archives (). Diplomatarium Norvegicum
''Diplomatarium Norvegicum'' is a series of books containing the texts of documents and letters from Norway older than 1590, verbatim and in the original language. The series consists of 22 volumes, containing the texts of approximately 20,000 documents. The first volume was published in 1848 at the initiative of historian Christian C. A. Lange (1810–1861), who served as the national archivist of Norway (''Riksarkivar''). The work of transcribing the sources continued for over a hundred years until 1972. The oldest document is from approximately 1050, but the great mass of documents are from after 1300. The language in most of the letters is Old Norse, Old Norwegian, or Old Danish. ''Kringsjaa'' (Outlook) was a periodical which was published every two weeks from 1893–1910 (once a month July 1905–1909). It was published by Olaf Norlis forlag in Kristiania. The magazine was around 80–100 pages, and was based on subscription. The publishers also bound the issues into bindings of 10 issues. ''Kringsjaa'' was founded in 1893 when Unitarian Hans Tambs Lyche (1859–1898) returned from America, and was editor until 1898. Contributing editor from 1898 to 1910 was Christopher Brinchmann. Vilhelm Krag and Alf Harbitz were involved as well.
