Christopher Blanchett
Christopher Blanchett (born 1982) is an England, English broadcast journalist. He works for the BBC, presenting the weather forecast for ''Reporting Scotland''. He has also worked as an assistant producer for the national BBC News Channel. Education Blanchett attended the Nottingham Trent University, graduating with a BA honours degree in human geography in 2004 and a master's degree in television journalism in 2005. He was tutored by Barnie Choudhury. Broadcasting career Blanchett started working for ''BBC South Today'' in Southampton as a broadcast journalist before moving to the national BBC News Channel in London to work as a producer for the BBC Weather Centre. He then moved to Glasgow to present the BBC's ''Reporting Scotland'' weather forecasts alongside Judith Ralston, Stav Danaos and Cat Cubie. ''BBC Reporting Scotland'' is the BBC's national television news programme for Scotland, broadcast on BBC One Scotland from the headquarters of BBC Scotland at Pacific Quay in Glasgow. History Although BBC Television was established in Scotland since February 1952 - and broadcast some opt-out programming - it did not start its daily Scottish television news service until Friday 30 August 1957, initially consisting of a five-minute bulletin at 6.05pm on weekdays and a sports results programme on Saturdays. Judith Ralston
Judith Ralston (née Tonner) is a Scottish weather presenter employed by BBC Scotland, and a former singer. Early life and music career Ralston trained as a musician and studied singing at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow and then the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. Her operatic singing career ended at 28 after a vocal injury. Broadcasting career In 1999, Ralston returned to Scotland as a traffic reporter at BBC Scotland; afterwards, she moved into news and weather presenting. BBC Pacific Quay is BBC Scotland's television and radio studio complex at Pacific Quay, Glasgow, Scotland. Opened by then Prime Minister Gordon Brown on 20 September 2007, the studios are home to BBC Scotland's television, radio and online services and the headquarters of the BBC in Scotland. Location The studios are located adjacent to the Glasgow Science Centre, across the river from the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre and adjacent to the studios of commercial broadcaster STV. Cat Cubie (born 1981) is a Scottish television weather presenter who deputised when ''Reporting Scotland'' regular meteorologists were on maternity leave. Cubie was born in Scotland to Heather and Andrew Cubie and grew up in Edinburgh, attending George Watson's College before taking a psychology degree at Aberdeen University. BBC Weather is the department of the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) responsible for both the preparation and the broadcasting of weather forecasting, weather forecasts. On 6 February 2018, BBC Weather changed supplier from the government Met Office to MeteoGroup, after being required to put its weather services out to tender.
