Christopher Bailey (fashion Designer)
Christopher Paul Bailey CBE (born 11 May 1971) is a British fashion designer who was president and chief creative officer of Burberry. In May 2014, he took up the role of chief creative officer and president, following the departure of former CEO Angela Ahrendts. In February 2018, he was succeeded as chief creative officer by Riccardo Tisci. Early life and education Christopher Paul Bailey was born in Yorkshire, England, the son of a carpenter and a window dresser for Marks and Spencer. He graduated from the Royal College of Art with a master's degree in 1994, where he was later awarded an honorary fellowship in 2004 and, in 2013, an honorary-doctorate degree. Career From 1994 to 1996, he was the womenswear designer at Donna Karan and senior designer of womenswear at Gucci in Milan from 1996 to 2001. Christopher Bailey is a British academic and former screenwriter for television, particularly noted for his work on ''Doctor Who''. He lectures in English at the University of Brighton. Writing on Doctor Who The first of Bailey's scripts for ''Doctor Who'', ''Kinda'', broadcast in 1982, was analysed in detail by the first major scholarly work dedicated to ''Doctor Who''. ''Doctor Who: The Unfolding Text'' by Tulloch and Alvarado included analysis of ''Kindas Buddhist and Jungian symbology and related its tropes to Ursula K. Le Guin. The strength of the script for Kinda led to Bailey writing a sequel in 1983, ''Snakedance''. Script editor Eric Saward requested that Bailey devise another story idea. The initial outline for ''May Time'' was commissioned on 24 August 1982 and was about the Doctor and his companions arriving at the court of Byzantium. Christopher Bailey (born May 29, 2000) is an American track and field athlete. He has won medals in the Athletics World Championships and World Athletics Indoors Championships in the 4x400 metres relay. Early life From Atlanta, Georgia he attended Carver High School, Mississippi Valley State University, and the University of Tennessee, before attending the University of Arkansas. Career In January 2023, Bailey set a new Arkansas Razorbacks College record over 400m of 45:09 to break the previous record of 45:29 set in 2005 by Terry Gatson. Bailey won the NCAA Indoors 4x400m title as part of the Arkansas Razorbacks in March 2023 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Sir Christopher Alan Bayly, FBA, FRSL (18 May 1945 – 18 April 2015) was a British historian specialising in British Imperial, Indian and global history. From 1992 to 2013, he was Vere Harmsworth Professor of Imperial and Naval History at the University of Cambridge. Early life Bayly was from Tunbridge Wells, England, where he attended The Skinners School. He studied at Balliol College, Oxford and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree. He then remained at the University of Oxford and undertook post-graduate study at St Antony's College, Oxford.
