Christmas Wish (Gina Jeffreys Album)
"Christmas Wish" is the fourth studio and first Christmas album by Australian country singer Gina Jeffreys. The album contained four original tracks and nine Christmas classics. The lead single was "There's No Gift", which Jeffreys and McCormack co-wrote with American singer Jason Sellers. The album includes a duet with Australian jazz musician James Morrison and Australian a cappella vocal ensemble The Idea of North. Background, recording and promotion "We recorded most of the album in July at our house, so our neighbours probably think that we're crazy," Jeffreys laughs. "But I just love Christmas time - the decorations, the music and everything that goes with it. Gina Jeffreys (also known as Gina Jeffries, Gina Hillenberg and Gina McCormack born 1 April 1968) is an Australian country music, country singer-songwriter and radio presenter. Career In 1991, Jeffreys competed in The Toyota Star Maker Quest at the Tamworth Country Music Festival. After releasing her first single "Slipping Away (Max Merritt & The Meteors song), Slipping Away" (a cover of the 1975 song by Max Merritt) through BMG Music and "Radio Santa" in 1992, Gina signed a record deal with Australian Broadcasting Corporation, ABC Music, and released "Two Stars Fell" in 1993. The song went straight to No.1 on the Australian country charts. History The song had its genesis when Hairston was sharing a room with a friend. Autry's original recording (in which he pronounces Santa Claus as "Santy Claus") was a top-10 hit on the pop and country charts; the song would go on to be covered many times in the subsequent decades. "Jingle Bell Rock" is an American Christmas song first released by Bobby Helms in 1957. Since its release, it has received frequent airplay in the United States during every Christmas season since then. "Jingle Bell Rock" was composed by Joseph Carleton Beal (1900–1967) and James Ross Boothe (1917–1976), although both Helms and session guitarist on the song Hank Garland disputed this (see Authorship controversy section below).
