Christine Stephens
Christine Vivienne Stephens is a New Zealand psychology academic. She is currently professor of psychology at Massey University based in the Palmerston North. She is one of the founding members of the International Society of Critical Health Psychology, which she has also chaired. She is currently the society's treasurer. Career Stephens completed her PhD at Massey University on occupational overuse in 1993 before joining the staff in 1996 and rising to professor. Upon appointment she developed a course in health promotion, which was offered from 2001 and which she taught until 2016. During this time she authored a book on health promotion, entitled ''Health Promotion: A Psychosocial Approach'' and published in 2008. Stephens co-leads the cross-disciplinary Health and Ageing Research Team (HART) with Fiona Alpass, also at Massey. Massey University ( mi, Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa) is a university based in Palmerston North, New Zealand, with significant campuses in Albany and Wellington. Massey University has approximately 30,883 students, 13,796 of whom are extramural or distance-learning students, making it New Zealand's second largest university when not counting international students.
