Christie Golden
Christie Golden (born November 21, 1963) is an American author. She has written many novels and several short stories in fantasy, horror and science fiction. Career Golden has written many novels and several short stories in the fields of science fiction, fantasy and horror. Among her many projects are over a dozen ''Star Trek'' novels, over a dozen for gaming giant Blizzard's ''World of Warcraft'' and ''StarCraft'' novels, and three books for the now finished ''Fate of the Jedi'' series of ''Star Wars'' novels. Her co-authors on that series were Troy Denning and Aaron Allston. She launched TSR's Ravenloft line of novels in 1991 with her first novel – ''Vampire of the Mists''. and is the creator of the elven vampire archetype in fantasy fiction. Tides are the rise and fall of sea levels caused by the combined effects of the gravitational forces exerted by the Moon (and to a much lesser extent, the Sun) and are also caused by the Earth and Moon orbiting one another. Tide tables can be used for any given locale to find the predicted times and amplitude (or "tidal range"). Twilight is light produced by sunlight scattering in the upper atmosphere, when the Sun is below the horizon, which illuminates the lower atmosphere and the Earth's surface. The word twilight can also refer to the periods of time when this illumination occurs. The lower the Sun is beneath the horizon, the dimmer the twilight (other factors such as atmospheric conditions being equal). When the Sun reaches 18° below the horizon, the twilight's brightness is nearly zero, and evening twilight becomes nighttime.
