Christie Downs, South Australia
Christie Downs is a suburb in southern Metropolitan Adelaide within the city of Onkaparinga, South Australia. It has a unique postcode of 5164, and is adjacent to the suburbs of Christies Beach to the west, Noarlunga Centre to the south, Morphett Vale to the east and Lonsdale to the north. The area was named after Lambert Christie, who was one of the original European settlers in the area. The area continued to be mainly farming land until the late 1950s when large portions were purchased by the South Australian Housing Trust. Since then the suburb has steadily grown to have almost 2500 households. Electoral District Of Reynell
Reynell is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. It is named after John Reynell, a founder of the Agricultural and Horticultural Society of South Australia and noted 19th-century wheat farmer, sheep and cattle breeder, vigneron and winemaker in the area. Reynell is a 33.1 km² urban residential and industrial electorate in Adelaide's far south. It includes the suburbs of Christies Beach, Christie Downs, Hackham West, Lonsdale, Noarlunga Centre, O'Sullivan Beach, Port Noarlunga and Reynella, as well as part of Morphett Vale. Lonsdale, South Australia
Lonsdale is an industrial suburb south of Adelaide, South Australia, within the City of Onkaparinga. Lonsdale was farmed from shortly after European settlement until the 1950s, when the South Australian Housing Trust acquired much of the land for industrial use. Mobil's Port Stanvac Refinery and Chrysler's engine foundry were followed by many other manufacturing and service industries. Subsequent suburban development of surrounding areas has driven demand for a wide range of service-oriented businesses in the area. Port Stanvac Refinery and the Mitsubishi (formerly Chrysler) engine plant closed in 2004, with both sites remaining unused as of 2007. Morphett Vale is a southern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia in the City of Onkaparinga. It is the largest suburb in the state, with a population of more than 23,000 and an area of 12.76 km2, followed by Paralowie with nearly 10,000 fewer residents. Noarlunga Centre is a suburb in the City of Onkaparinga in the southern suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia. The suburb is mostly commercial, being dominated by the Centro Colonnades shopping centre and the small 'Inspire Noarlunga' estate to the east of Goldsmith Road. Hackham West is an outer southern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is located in the City of Onkaparinga. History The suburb has existed for about thirty years. Prior to this, the area was rural with vineyards and farms. On 4 January 1983 10-year-old Louise Bell, disappeared from her bedroom in Hackham West. The City of Onkaparinga () is a local government area (LGA) located on the southern fringe of Adelaide, South Australia.
